How is your hair doing?

Mine was fine for weeks but is starting to look unkempt. Short hair and now too long but not long enough to do anything with. The side bits are sticking out and so is the bottom of the back and the top is heavy. Too much for me to do anything with now, so it will have to be a 50s cloth hairband very soon.

My hairdresser is re-thinking her life and is enjoying the certainty of working in a supermarket, I hope she comes back but may never, Argh

Mine is layered, but now the layers are quite long. I had a go at cutting my fringe last week (I should have left it). I colour it myself and at the moment it's very blonde. Like many others around, my hair is looking tatty grin

To answer the OP, it's looking a bit grim!

In anticipation of hairdressers opening in the not too distant future I've just left a friendly voicemail with mine begging asking her to book me in as soon as she opens up!

Also in dire need of an eyebrow wax and pedicure.

I took the plunge last night and I now have a short bob again. It does not look too bad although I cannot see the back!!! It will grow.

...but now it's like this.

Well originally it was like this...

Just a suggestion!

my Hair is about the only thing I ever looked after well. No matter how little money I’ve had my hair has always been a priority. Mainly because I have a birthmark on my scalp(I’ve just been told has a Basel Cell Carcinoma growing in itshock) that I’ve always wanted to hide, it grows outward rather than down and its thick but fine so a hint of wind and I look as if I’ve got a storks nest on my head. A few weeks ago I bought some thinning scissors, I think from a recommendation from gransnetters. Today I plucked up the courage to use them on my hair. If anyone had told me I’d cut my own hair I’d never have believed them ....never. The result is surprisingly ok. As anyone who has similar hair will know it’s a wonderful feeling of lightness after a haircut. I brushed it and cut it dry. My husband’s opinion......it’s saved money

Hairdressers appt next week - yippee. Only two people allowed in the salon and masks to be worn. We have to wait outside to be be called in.

Mine is usually short and spiky and cut every 4 weeks but is currently still fairly short but completely lacking in style and seems to have developed waves that I don't like. It's a mess tbh.

I have mine trimmed every four weeks and the last one was at the end of February. Bought some hair scissors online and DH gave me a trim. A friend who is a hairdresser looked at it on Zoom and announced 'it would do'! I keep taking a bit off my fringe but had to get DH to cut some off the back length this week and he got a little scissor happy. I'm sure the mistakes will be grown out by the time I'm able to get an appointment again. As others have said, at least we're not going out socially at present.

Hmmmm how is my hair....?
In 4 words : Wild - Shapeless - but Clean.
I wash it every day so it feels nice at least.

EllanVannin Wed 13-May-20 15:43:16

I could plait mine.

Charleygirl5 Wed 13-May-20 15:37:58

My bob used to finish at the tip of my ear- now it is halfway down my neck. It is very fine, usually straight but I have lots of it and it is now starting to "do its own thing" sticking out at right angles or whatever.

At this rate I will have two mini pigtails but I must give it the chop.

I usually have my hair very short and was due a trim at the start of lockdown, so was expecting a mess very quickly.
Luckily, it's not too bad.
I'm going to let it get longer and I may even like it that way.
I still have my natural colour, just a bit more subdued than it used to be.

seacliff Wed 13-May-20 15:22:16

Mine seems to be improving a bit. It is longer and the weight is making it less bushy, and I am trying to wash it only every 3 days or so. I have trimmed my fringe twice now with the twist method.

I have not topped up the colour since lockdown. The back at bottom is a mix of soft brown and grey, quite visible. Also round sides of my face. I think I am just getting used to the grey.

I have been in the sun a lot and have some lighter bits, which look OK. Also I added a few DIY highlights, so breaking up the darker brown.

I will be 70 later this year so being brown is not fooling anyone. I am working part time but now from home, so no one there sees it. I am probably going to embrace the grey now. I will have to rethink the colours I wear.

I've just washed and dried my hair. On looking in the mirror, I can see that I seem to have fashioned BoJo's hairstyle. It's wild, untameable and has long since lost any of the style my hairdresser cut it into all those weeks ago. No idea what to do with it.

timetogo2016 Tue 12-May-20 11:55:58

I feel like Mrs Catweasle but saving money at the same time.
Could be worse though eh.

Tabbycat Tue 12-May-20 11:53:03

Another badger here! I used to have it cut quite short every 6 weeks and last went to the hairdressers on 5th February. So, now all the layers have grown out at different rates and the badger stripes are really prominent. I thought I'd cracked it when I sent off for a selectiom of headbands - no - I wear a hearing aid on one side and glasses and most of the headbands won't stay on or hurt after a short time. I wear a hat or a hood when I go for my daily exercise walk! smile

I don’t dye mine, so that’s not a problem, but the fringe was getting on my nerves so I finally attacked it with the kitchen scissors. It’s not good, but at least I can see now. The rest of it is just growing longer, and looks all right so far.

Susie42 Tue 12-May-20 11:20:19

I've been thinking about shaving my hair off back to the level it was when I lost it after chemo. I really liked it when it was about an inch or so long but I found the only problem was that I needed a lot of slap to look good so I spent a lot on make up.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sat 09-May-20 10:59:50

This morning it is a style free shapeless mess. A grown out pixie cut is probably an apt description. I'm contemplating cutting it very short indeed and getting my 'chemo wigs' out of the box and wearing them instead of faffing about. That's a bit drastic though isn't it? Hang back with those scissors.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 09-May-20 10:59:36

The secret to long fabulous hair is not to put your glasses on when looking in the mirror/styling it ???

Oldwoman70 Sat 09-May-20 10:29:34

Still manageable (just) but soon may have to resort to scissors on my fringe (I also seem to have a lot more grey hair than I remember)

nanaK54 Sat 09-May-20 10:27:25

My hair is a complete mess, not worried about colour as I 'embraced the grey' a while back.I usually have it cut every three weeks, very short style, but this experience is sort of liberating, nobody to see my hair apart from DH, so I will just put up with it and not worry too much at all
