During lockdown I have done a bit of retail shopping and find that I have put quite a few new things in the wardrobe - (not telling how much). Most are too nice to wear around the house although I do try to look Ok and dont wear lounge wear all the time. Anyone else done some clothes shopping but not worn their new things yet? Will you wear them at home?

That's funny ,Lettice. Since this hand washing thing I have been washing my face with soapy lather on the same principle as hand washing.

Some days I am an absolute slob and may not even wash my face properly, and some days I dress up and have gone for my daily walk in my best coat. Only trouble with dressing up and going for a walk is that flat shoes are for walking and heels are for dressing up. But most days I dress tidily, with eye makeup.

I bought a dress online in Medium and was humiliated to discover it did not fit my lockdown figure! Sent it back and asked for a Large replacement. Oh dear!

These comments have cheered me up after numerous texts from children on the topic of whether to send grandchildren back to school in June. Thanks.

I bought a new dress back in March, intending to wear it for Mothering Sunday, but that didn't happen.
I have been looking for my footbed sandals to wear, but I guess I must have left them in our holiday home in France. I can't decide whether to buy some more or make do with my canvas pumps.

You deserve it Elizabeth, you have been through a lot!

Perhaps I won't recognise you if and when we meet up again! grin.

I think I'm even heavier than I was at the last meet up! sad
Take care x

I’ve been doing quite a lot of on line shopping I’ve lost a few stone in weight since becoming ill and it’s doing my dh head in when the doorbell goes he’s to answer it as I’m not yet in a good position to do so myself. I’ve had such fun looking at several online retail shops. Nae money left.wink

SirChenjin grin ??
Thank you for the free legal advice, the guilt was killing me. wink

SirChenjin Fri 15-May-20 20:22:28

Absolutely it’s OK - in fact, a law was passed recently that said you have to buy a Phase Eight top on your Birthday Boxing Day grin

Marydoll Fri 15-May-20 20:14:32

I've just bought a Phase Eight Top, but in my defence, I was reading this thread and the advert appeared at the side! wink.

It was half price, with free delivery and yesterday was my birthday, so it's Ok. Well that's what I'm telling myself! grin

Bag lady for me too Gillybob, it seems to go well with the dark roots in the hair hair and lack of manicure! A sight to behold.

SirChenjin Fri 15-May-20 19:48:26

I know!!! And I get cards through my letterbox with discount codes and money off gift vouchers - how on Earth do they know where I live or when my birthday is? confused

janeainsworth Fri 15-May-20 19:22:16

gringrin and SirChenjin I’ve discovered that on some sites my credit card fills in the details all by itself and all I have to do is remember my 3-digit security number!

SirChenjin Fri 15-May-20 19:17:18

janeainsworth grin It’s so easy to do by mistake - just accidentally type in some random letters on the keyboard and before you know it you’ve added things to a basket and checked them out. They really should make it much harder to make those kind of accidents!

jerseygirl Fri 15-May-20 18:45:30

I started buying summer clothes and sandals before the lockdown. They are all in the wardrobe. I haven't worn any yet but hopefully theres always next year

janeainsworth Fri 15-May-20 18:45:15

SirChenjin I might just accidentally find myself on the Bombshell website after reading all this but it definitely won’t be my fault if something ends up in my basket grin

SirChenjin Fri 15-May-20 18:22:56

I appear to have bought two Seasalt tops - you lot are a bad influence grin

janeainsworth Fri 15-May-20 18:21:58

Calender37 I’m glad you lived to fight another day, and enjoy wearing your nice clothes and perfume thanks

janeainsworth Fri 15-May-20 18:19:19

Deedaa Fri 15-May-20 16:51:17

I bought a rather nice Joe Browns dress on line for half price. I've worn it in the garden a couple of times when it's been really hot.

ninathenana Fri 15-May-20 16:50:19

I have two new skirts I bought for our UK break at beginning of April also some new underwear none of which I've worn yet.
Yesterday was the first time I've worn any "leaving the house" clothes for weeks as I had to take DD to hosp appointment.

narrowboatnan Fri 15-May-20 16:41:29

Calendar37 my heart lifted to know that you have survived this dreadful virus. A true survivor ?

I got a bag of summer stuff out from under the bed where it had spent the winter. Sadly, several tops seem to have shrink since last year, so I shall have to buy new ones ?

Teetime Fri 15-May-20 14:48:33

Good advice I feel a very dressy weekend coming on. smile

JaneRn Fri 15-May-20 14:41:21

What a lot of happy, positive comments here! My mother used to say never go out of the house unless you are looking as good as you can, and preferably better, and never keep clothes for best. By the time you get around to wearing them they will probably be out of date. My grandmother would have added never wear slippers!
Being effectively cut off from so much of what we used to enjoy, it certainly raises your morale if you know you are looking your best, even if the only one to see you is the postman and the delivery driver bringing your latest Amazon, etc, etc parcel.
