Has anyone else felt that they have let them self go a bit during this time?
I always used to put on make up and cared about I dressed.
I seem to live in lounge and comfortable clothing now.
Buying online for clothes has not been a good experience. Must always check that it’s free postage to return items!
I really don’t want to get old before my time, arghhh!

I must admit I do slob around in my nightwear many a morning. I don't worry about opening the door to the postman or delivery driver but my neighbour has witnessed my obvious laziness a couple of times and I've seen her eyes ranging from my bare feet to ancient leggings and finally to my Sainsbury's nightie and there's a flicker of disapproval, derision even, in her eyes but, what the hey? I can live with that. ???

No

I’ve tried to keep up ‘standards’ and although my make-up is a bit less (helped a lot by good weather and walking which has made my skin look more healthy) I always wear eye makeup-up, and wear good clothes, unless gardening.

I've never really gone in for make-up, just mascara and eyebrow definer. What you see us what you get, more or less. I've been amazed at what make-up can do, though. There was a picture of Susanna Reid, a few days ago, at home 'au naturel' and I wouldn't have recognised her! A few days later, back in the TV studio, the transformation was incredible! It must make starting a new relationship really difficult if you meet someone when you're all glammed up and then, the first time they see you without make-up, they see a stranger! ?

No - not at all. I wear makeup & dress appropriately for what I am doing for ME not for anyone else.
I have not left the house without my makeup since I was 14. Not going to change now.

Well I found myself putting on make-up for the Sainsbury delivery driver this morning! I see so few people at the moment (other than DH) and don't usually bother.
But I am making sure that my clothes are neat, if not smart.

The only thing I've really let go is that during and since lockdown I haven't often bothered to wear my contact lenses. As they cost almost £60 a month, that's been quite a saving!

Theoddbird Thu 10-Sept-20 10:42:46

I am sitting here wearing baggy cotton dungarees similar to wartime landgirl ones. Cheesecloth top under. I have to go out later. Hair will be done, makeup put on and I will wear a linen dress.

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 10-Sept-20 10:31:04

I only wear a necklace, my watch and engagement ring if I'm going out. I generally slap some lippy on even when walking the dog!! I try to make sure my clothes co-ordinate apart from that, don't make much effort!

Davida1968 Thu 10-Sept-20 10:12:22

Two things which I've always felt helped me to "look nice" on a daily basis, are wearing lipstick and earrings. Now, with wearing a mask, I can't do either! (Wearing both glasses and hearing-aids, there's simply too much "going on" in my ear area!)

Yellowmellow Thu 10-Sept-20 10:06:44

Spent my life in formal clothes. I now work a couple of days a week but can be more casual (lm classed as a key worker so have worked all through lockdown. I'm loving wearing more casual clothes but still like to be stylish. Don't want to look 'slobby' . I do my hair everyday and a slick of make up. Must admit non iron clothes also hold an appeal ?

Juicylucy Thu 10-Sept-20 09:53:30

I never wore make up every day, however I’ve stopped wearing a bra and skinny jeans, both are to restrictive and uncomfortable.

Bixiboo Thu 10-Sept-20 09:43:42

I’ve always worn make up and won’t stop now I’m retired. It makes me feel better although I’m now using a light BB cream rather than foundation. I still like to look half decent and don’t usually wear jeans, they don’t feel right on me. Ive got several pairs of Robell trousers which I practically live in, different styles and colours.

WoodLane7 Thu 10-Sept-20 09:41:50

I feel like I have definitely let myself go a bit; I never wore make up anyway and still follow my personal care and cleanse, tone, moisture routines
Where I am falling short is my dress code; as I am not at the office I spend my days in jeans or jogging bottoms; considering a major cull of more formal clothes, can't see me needing a lot of them ever again.........

Lesley60 Thu 10-Sept-20 09:40:16

I lost 4 stone just before lockdown and was so pleased as I’m always struggling with my weight, I treated myself to new clothes.
Now I have put two of it back on due to all the sweet things I was eating during that time (I’m a chocoholic) and can’t fit into any of the new clothes and my old clothes are still to big.
I used to never even go to the corner shop without my lippy on now I will go to Town bare faced.
I’m so mad at myself I have to take myself under control ?

Dorsetcupcake61 Thu 10-Sept-20 09:37:40

I wear less formal clothes as not at work but I still like to be clean and tidy. I love my make up but only wear if go out ,my skin seems better without it. I always wear perfume.

henetha Thu 10-Sept-20 09:35:59

Just a little make up for me every day whether I'm going out or at home. Light tinted foundation, eye shadow, mascara, and always different earrings every day.
It's part of my anti-depression therapy to make an effort to look my best. I do wear comfortable clothes indoors but always try to look reasonably neat.

felice Thu 10-Sept-20 09:30:22

I seem to have gone the other way, making an effort since the beginning of lockdown to put a bit of face on and wear smart clothes when going out.
A noticed a couple of people in our area also doing the same,
We wear masks at all times outside the home here and I have found myself wearing eye make up more than before.

Seizetheafternoon Thu 10-Sept-20 09:24:03

Since I was about 16 I have put on a full face of make-up every day unless I’ve been home ill. I feel pale, blotchy and sickly looking if I don’t. As soon as lockdown started I realised there was no point in doing it anymore. I live alone and apart from a daily walk wasn’t seeing anyone. It suddenly felt unimportant to wear makeup and even when I did start going out I didn’t bother with it. My face got a little bit tanned and less pasty and I gradually got used to seeing my bare face again after over 40 years. Last week I travelled to see my family for the first time since January and took not one item of Make-up with me. It felt really freeing. For special occasions whenever we can have them again, I will probably wear it but now it feels really normal to go out without it.

What a dandy Spangler

Georgesgran Thu 10-Sept-20 08:08:46

Always some makeup for me.
It’s second nature and only takes a couple of minutes - I’ve got it down to a fine art! Still use perfume daily - bottle in the car, another in the bathroom and mini version in handbag.
Clothes are another matter - they all seem to have shrunk in lockdown - so lots of elastic waist stuff and long tops for me.
Casual, but not too scruffy, I hope.

Esspee Thu 10-Sept-20 08:03:04

Crikey, am I so unusual? During the day I dress according to what I’m doing e.g. old clothes for gardening, comfortable clothes for housework, smarter for shopping but come evening I have a bath and put on my lovely clothes before dinner. I don’t see the point in keeping clothes for “best” so, for example last night it had turned cold so I was wearing a lovely royal blue Windsmoor dress.
Gave up bras in the 60s and only very rarely wear one now. Sometimes wear lip gloss but no other make up. It ages you I think.

Spangler Thu 10-Sept-20 07:16:23

Jeans? Baggy top? No make up? Seriously? Rest assured, I don't wear make up but I wouldn't be seen dead in denim. It's collar and tie, blazer and trousers, old fashioned trousers, with turn ups. Fair Isle socks and two tone shoes.

For the casual look, light coloured trousers, with an Aloha shirt and a straw sun hat.

I like to wear suits too, most are vintage style with wide lapels, one in particular is a zoot suit (google image of a zoot suit) Dress down, no thanks.

My wife wears little make up, but you would be surprised at that if you saw her. Her perfect eyebrows and full red lips are not all they seem. They are tattooed.

Shirleyw Thu 10-Sept-20 04:46:39

No change for me as I'm an 'essential' worker so I worked all throughout lockdown (support worker) my clothes are casual and comfy for work anyway ...leggings and tunics mainly and tinted moisturiser for face ?

GagaJo Wed 09-Sept-20 21:00:22

I was awful in lockdown. Scruffy, no make up, unwashed hair. I improved a bit when I had to do Zoom working and then had to get myself in order when I returned to work. Except I didn't totally manage to get my previous polish totally back.
