Stylish jogging bottoms?

I usually change into jogging bottoms (non elasticated ankle types!) at home but now I wear them nearly all the time as i rarely leave the house.

I have one pair of Jersey 'loungewear' trousers which are lovely to wear as they are a bit like thicker PJ bottoms. They are lovely and relaxed but ok if someone comes round.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy some more.

Some Oxymoron joggers
Are what I like to wear
They're not the height of fashion
But who am I to care?
I'll tell you they are stylish
You'll have to take my word.
Because they're oxymorons
In case you haven't heard.

Now we just need someone to start an oxymoron range!! We'd be sorted then!! grin

Matalan is THE place for comfy joggers. I have been buying black ones there for several winters as my old Victorian house is pretty cold all winter and I rarely go anywhere these days. I buy Men’s Large black joggers by EASY. They have 2 lovely deep pockets for my mobile phone and cordless house phone, one in each pocket, unlike the ladies’ joggers which don’t usually have pockets or only mini ones! These are 80% cotton, 20% polyester, have elasticated waist and fairly wide bottoms without elastic and No stripe. The inside is slightly fluffy to make them cosy. I paid a bargain £7.99 last winter and they last more than two or three years I think. I have 3 pairs so always have a clean pair and I love them. BTW, when it’s really cold I wear a pair of Primark thin stretchy cotton leggings underneath. They were £6 per pair last winter. So no need to pay M&S prices!

I gave my sister two pairs of M&S joggers for her birthday today, they look fairly stylish and have two zipped pockets. They were their top end range.
I live in joggers and leggings at present, who needs tight waistbands when you are sitting around.

I took up sewing during lockdown after a long break. Practically the first things I made were a couple of pairs of jersey lounging trousers. They don’t take long to make as there are no zips or pockets. I have lived in the ever since and have bought fabric for another pair.

For those of you who sew, Rebecca Page’s pattern is brilliant. She calls them Pippa Pants.

Who cares about fashion, I'm all for comfort. Jeggings and jogging bottoms are my staples. Next joggers are super for those of us who are vertically challenged and so comfy.

I wear lycra leggings - no I am not athletic! - with oversized tops and strappy tops underneath. So comfy and not too ashamed if the delivery man knocks at the door or I take the dog out. Last week I bought some from Lidl for £8!!! They are great value and quite smart!!!! I also love my Skechers that my daughter bought me!

Lulubelle- I'm not sure that M&S joggers as discussed here are exactly worn for actual jogging! They are available in four lengths so you should be able to find the right length for you. I need the longer length ones which aren't often in store but are easily available online. I just click and collect. My most recent pairs (I buy 2 at a time) were in very good quality fabric with a 'stay new' finish.

Someone should start a company called ‘oxymoron’, very popular word here today.
I love my stylish M&S joggers, also a pair from Matalan with pockets.

Lulubelle500 Thu 15-Oct-20 14:09:27

Definitely Baukjen or Hush. I've had the same four pairs for several years now, they wash really well. M&S, even straight leg, are too long and baggy for me. As are Nike and Addidas. (For really jogging its got to be leggings, warm shorts, long socks anyway.)

Any wider leg suggestions?

What you wear in your own home is entirely your business, but stylish jogging suits? Surely that is an oxymoron?

I have just ordered some from Uniqlo and John Lewis! I love Uniqlo's cashmere sweaters also although the colours are pretty dire this year.

I’m not really bothered about how stylish my bottom is. No-one sees it any more!
Cotton Traders are good, but not for us shorties. Most of their clothing is Unisex, and the arms and legs are far too long. I mentioned it on their Facebook page and they actually thanked me for my comments. They said that their design team always try to take suggestions on board. I’m not holding my breath for a Petite range though.
My joggers haven’t seen the light of day for months, and I can’t remember where I bought them. Now that it’s becoming colder I may start wearing them around the house.

sodapop Thu 15-Oct-20 12:23:19

I used to get quite a few things from Cotton Traders for wearing round the house but recently have found their quality and styling leaves a lot to be desired.

Pippa22 Thu 15-Oct-20 12:19:03

No, no , no to joggers with elasticated bottoms, particularly if worn with leather shoes and white socks !! Otherwise joggers are fine but only if they don’t have a big stretched bit hanging down where the bottom should fit if the trousers were pulled up. You can see I have done a lot of research on this. Actually joggers look nice if worn with a baggy sweatshirt. About on a par with leggings I suppose but a bit more forgiving especially if leggings are flesh colour and worn stretched over an ample body making the wearer look nude until a second glance is taken.... after joggers and leggings during house arrest I don’t think I could ever go back to wearing jeans.

GrandmaMoira Thu 15-Oct-20 12:07:24

NfkDumpling - M&S also do joggers with pockets. They are £25 compared with the £12.50 for plain ones. They are very comfortable and, for me, a better shape as a bit looser at the top but slightly less wide at the bottom. The only issue I have is that the navy ones fade slightly (which I find is common with navy).

Judi45 Thu 15-Oct-20 11:55:02

Cotton Traders is the way to go, nice straight legs & brushed cotton inside so warm & cosy. Selection of sweatshirts in great colours, too.

Pittcity Thu 15-Oct-20 11:38:54

We have a local independent that calls them "magic trousers".

GillT57 Thu 15-Oct-20 11:38:10

I have always hated jogging bottoms, but the prospect of a long winter without a few sunshine breaks has made me reconsider, I have been looking at the Landsend ones which don't look too bulky. I may have a look online at the M&S ones but sadly, with the exception of swimwear, everything I have ordered from M&S in the past year or so has had to be returned due to dreadful quality.

craftycarol Thu 15-Oct-20 11:26:10

I bought a really smart pair from Bonmarche. Straight legs with five covered buttons at the ankles. Really comfortable and only £12.00!!!

Is “stylish jogging bottoms” not an oximoron ..?!

Think this has been mentioned.....
