Lifting wrinkles

Does anyone know of a good cream to temporarily lift wrinkles?

Esspee Thu 03-Nov-22 20:34:45

I once had a long stopover in Aukland Airport where a very expensive anti wrinkle cream was being promoted. As it was free I liberally spread it on. Checking an hour later I could see no improvement so more went on. I applied it about three or four times in total with no visible difference (to my mind).

On arriving at LAX I was escorted from passport control to a holding secure room for interrogation. Apparently there was suspicion that I had attempted to evade identification. They had difficulty getting my fingerprints.

I was so jet lagged my brain took a while to remember the anti wrinkle cream. I was escorted to the rest room and had to scrub my hands in very hot water, twice.
Eventually my fingerprints were uncovered and matched my records so I was released.

Clearly that product worked on the Polyfilla principal. 🙄

I find that my very large prescription sunglasses in Calvin Klein frames get rid of any lines or wrinkles instantly!

The best treatment for wrinkles and lines is retinol - the stronger the better. Just remember to test carefully and only apply at night- never in sunlight. Buy from a good source

Apparently Joan Collins and others swear by ointment for piles!grinshock

It gives a temporary "tightening" effect.

Haemorrhoid cream works well for puffiness under the eyes, not wrinkles unfortunately.

Sooner a few wrinkles than a poor face like some of these infamous face lifters, naming no names of course

Not a topical cream, as such, but getting good results by taking a daily marine collagen extract tablet.

My wrinkles are noticeably plumped out and less obvious.

Skin Doctor's Instant Facelift is good and works within 5 minutes. Think its only available online though.

Avon platinum eye smoother is great. But a bit more expensive than £4! I think its generally around £10 to £12. There are a few videos on YouTube showing how it works. It definitely softens and smooths wrinkles and lines without the dry residue of some treatments.

anxiousgran, quite true that you can't get rid of them. Face creams have no lasting benefits but can make our skin feel more moisturised and comfortable.

I do wish I'd kept out of the sun when I was young as it's obviously sun damage. Those parts that are always covered have lovely smooth skin - quite a contrast!

anxiousgran Tue 10-Nov-20 18:32:17

Surely you can’t get rid of wrinkles whatever you use and does it matter?
Remedies/creams will only smooth them out for as long as you use them, the damage is done, but that’s just aging.

Still if you like using a nice cream, there’s no harm in pampering yourself..

My mother's generation used to use egg white to tighten their skin (probably a war time substitute, though).

leeds22 I agree!
I have a light aversion and wear tinted glasses throughout the day, imho the tint does help with frown lines and elevens, re not squinting in harsh light inside or outside.

Cherrytree59 Tue 10-Nov-20 16:40:04

Thank you Petra
I'm not clever with a needle, so would need to buy.blush.
Perhaps I could add to Christmas list.smile

Sunglasses work for me too. Not looking at the magnifying side of the mirror also helps.

Gilmul Tue 10-Nov-20 14:36:49

Must be why our eyesight gets worse as we age too , harder to see the wrinkles we all seem to dislike so much. I don’t mind mine it’s the deep deep frown line between my eyebrows that I hate so much sad

Yes, ointment for piles was used a lot for tightening up wrinkles, so now it is only available here on prescription.

Cherrytree
I made my own silk pillow cases. A lot cheaper.
It wasn't for wrinkles but for bedhead hair It really does work.

I discovered My Perfect Eyes several years ago and it worked so well that I told my grandson it was a magic trick! He looked at the bags under my eyes, then went away for 5 minutes, came back and they were really gone!! grin It was rather expensive, and as others have said, it left a residue so I didn't use it very often. Now I have discovered Avon Platinum Instant Eye Smoother, for about £4 and it works just as well, with less residue.

Janiepops Tue 10-Nov-20 13:02:07

This is one I have used loopyloo. It takes 30 seconds to dry,and pulls skin tight as it does. I also put it on my “Marionette” lines from nose to mouth, works well! Pat it on,keep face very still as it dries, skin a bit dry next day, but hey! If you look nicer for a special occasion, who cares ??

Blossoming Tue 10-Nov-20 12:54:36

Huge sunglasses work for me, and as I’m VI I actually have a medical reason to wear them at all times!

JaneRn Tue 10-Nov-20 12:48:22

Nothing, and stop worrying. It will only make your wrinkles worse.

Acciaccatura Tue 10-Nov-20 11:09:34

I think there have been two products on the shopping channels - Eyessential and Fabulift. Personally, I don't like the feeling of tightness but I know others who do. Both worked well but Fabulift made my skin red so I had to return it. Hope that helps.
