TV clothing adverts

Why is it, all the ladies fashion clothing adverts on TV seem to be focussed on taller women. I've just seen a couple of adverts and only being 5 feet tall I would look rediculous wearing any of the clothes despite them being marketed for the mature age group. Certainly doesn't make me want to buy anything.

Agreed!
I am struggling to buy short length jeans. M& S used to be fine, but all of a sudden, their jeans are about two inches too long, so annoying.
Dresses are a problem too, even midi length is too long for me, so all the gorgeous styles in midaxi or maxi length are impossible to wear.

I am 5ft 3in and when I was a teenager it wasn’t considered “petite”. However, models have always been tall and very slim - Twiggy and even the supermodels of the 80s -. Women’s fashion is mainly designed by men and they know that their designs look better on tall, slim women.

I have just realised that there are no ads for clothes for women on TV just now here, a couple for men but I have not seen a women's ad for ages.
All toiletries, kitchen stuff, bed linen, cars etc.
Perhaps I am just watching at the wrong time of day, evenings only.

Not just tall women It would seem (like me) but very slender ones. Clothes look different on slim people somehow.

I remember someone saying that designers would be much happier if they could send their clothes down the runway on a hanger and bypass the human body altogether. I can never understand the women who have massive breast enlargements because it ruins the line of their clothes.

I wish all the adverts weren't styled for young women - tea dresses with Converse trainers and a trilby for example. Try a look like that if you're over 50 and it's instant Bag Lady!

It's not just shorted ladies that have a problem. Clothes are not all styled for tall people in most shops. They are based on the average height, which for women in this country used to be 5' 3", not sure if that is still true.

I'm 5' 9" and have difficulty buying dresses, coats, tights and jeans. Anything with a waist basically because the waist is always in the wrong place. Shirts and jumpers are nearly always too short. I'm always surprised on websites when they say the model is 5' 8" or whatever, because when I buy the garment it doesn't fit in the same way and often is a completely different length.
