My skin has gone so dry and no cream seems to moisturiser it properly. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced deeply nourishing cream.

Thank you all so much give your suggestions, I gave tried most if them including Serum from Boots, which hadn't made much difference, absorbed straight away and skin still feels tight. I succumbed yesterday and bought vitamin c serum and moisturiser from Boots. If this doesn't work I might try the e45 dry skin cream or Aveeno as all the moisutisers smell of perfume and I'm beginning to think that's what I don't get on with. In fact I might even try Astral or Nivea, as it's silly the amount I've spent over the last few years with no results. Definitely going to drink more water and try the egg white. Thank you

Aveeno is nice and light and well absorbed.

Other than Botox or stopping frowning in a baffled way, of course.
It could be Gransnet, FannyC - it does have a tendency to make one frown in a baffled way

I tried putting steristrips overnight on that annoying little crease many years ago when it worried me, but I don't really care any more.

Having read this I realised I hadn’t been putting moisturiser on my face at night recently so I mixed up some protect and perfect serum with 8 hour cream last night and slapped it on. It does seem to plump my skin up. I also now wear sun block on my face all the time as my skin was going very leathery.

Gagagra. I sometimes put hydrocortisone cream on my eyelids if they get sore. I know you have to be careful round the eye area but I think (from memory: I need to double check) HC45 is ok. Also golden eye ointment occasionally.

I find that eye make up remover makes my eyes sore ( even though I rarely wear make up these days). I used to use Simple cream eye make up remover but they no longer sell it. Just their liquid version which is supposed to be gentle on eyes but makes mine sore. Does anyone know of another cream eye make up remover? Most of them seem to be liquid ones.

Can anyone advise an eye cream? I have one eye lid which gets very dry and itchy. I have been using vaseline on it in a thin layer and that helps but doesn't clear it. The other eye lid is fine. I use simple cleansing wipes on my face and E45 cream - never soap and water.

Casdon thank you very much, that's very helpful
I think that I will give it a go.

Casdon Thu 22-Apr-21 11:17:09

FannyCornforth it’s been around a long time, and I’ve used it for about 15 years I think. I put it on about half an hour before my night moisturiser, it’s strange because it’s not greasy, but makes your skin feel soft immediately. It seems to keep the moisture locked in my skin for longer. It has a dispenser in the bottle so you don’t need much, a big bottle lasts me for a year. Hope that helps.

Get thee to Aldi! They have a moisturising gel , in a pink pot, a dupe of Clarins Moisture Surge FOR £30 POUNDS CHEAPER!!!!Lovely stuff, then I top it with Rosehip oil , usually Trilogy ( good enough for K Middleton good enough for me!

tiredoldwoman Thu 22-Apr-21 11:13:15

I got a wee pot of Astral in a Christmas goody hamper , it used to be too rich for me once upon a time and gave me spots . But now , 20 years later my skin gobbled it up in glee and feels really soft and comfortable .

Dove rich nourishment cream (in small blue n white tub) is the only one that keeps my skin moisturised all day shock - how did I get so wrinkly? Can get it in cheapy shops

FannyCornforth Thu 22-Apr-21 11:07:41

Casdon can you tell us more about the serum you mentioned?
I've been tempted by it on QVC.
What does it do for you? Thank you!

Casdon Thu 22-Apr-21 11:03:23

I love Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum, it’s expensive but I have tried loads of others and found nothing that touches it. I find if I use that I can get away with a cheaper moisturiser.

SecondhandRose Thu 22-Apr-21 10:55:07

Try Aveeno

I just checked my bathroom shelf and I’m using L’Oreal’s ‘Youth Code’ at present (I never stick to just one product) and its lush like soft custard, smells nice and isn’t sticky.

Ooh, that sounds lovely!
I nearly started a moisturiser thread myself.
Does anyone know how I can get rid of (or rather, decrease) '11' lines between my eyebrows?
Other than Botox or stopping frowning in a baffled way, of course.

I agree with the two-phase system suggested by Ro60. I have always had sty skin and have always used a cream since I was about 14. Ponds was all I could afford at the time.

Now I us a Hyaloron serum after showering (a tiny drop goes a long way) and then a face cream after breakfast, when I've cleaned my teeth.

I try and remember to apply at least one of these before bed, but I'm not so disciplined then.

Try to find one that's not too expensive. Also look for anti-aging and SPF.

I wish manufacturers were obliged to give fat content for face creams, like with cheese, as that would help us make such decisions.

Let us know which any favourites you find.

Maybe you can go to a department store (they are open now in the UK aren't they?) and pick up some samples before deciding.

Since lockdown I've discovered Lidl Cien Q10 intensive serum with L'Oreal face cream & Rosy Glow on top a few hours later if I'm going out ie: Supermarket or a walk these days lol.

Party4 Thu 22-Apr-21 08:20:37

Have tried numerous expensive creams over yrs but none that has a wow effect. Now I am using St Ives exfoliator weekly and during lockdown purchased Simple skincare range with SPF 15/30 will see how it goes but so far very happy and affordable.

Sago Thu 22-Apr-21 08:15:49

Eucerin intensive.
It’s amazing but only on very dry skin.

foxie48 Thu 22-Apr-21 07:59:26

I'm another Clarins fan although I agree it is pretty pricey. I think the important thing is to use something regularly and I find my skin really benefits from a night cream as well as always putting something on my skin every morning. My mum had lovely skin and swore by nivea!

rosie1959 Thu 22-Apr-21 07:52:57

I love Clarins but it's a bit on the expensive side
I also use Elizabeth Grant from Ideal World shopping its good stuff and probably better than Clarins just doesnt have the wonderful fragrance that Clarins does

I find Origins works best on my skin but Nivea comes in as an affordable moisturiser.

BigBertha1 Thu 22-Apr-21 07:04:04

Clinique Moisture surge or Clarins
