Should I take notice of a friends remark about my dress

Rather a nasty remark - perhaps because her husband had complimented you!

Your husband thought it looked nice, you felt good in it. So don't let this spiteful remark make you feel sad and uncertain. I'm sure you look lovely in it.

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Life's too short to worry about what others think.

I am a size 10 petite and thats the length I think looks best and Boden dresses are lovely. I have psoriasis and veins and persuaded myself to wear shorts/dresses. Nobody has a perfect body.
You obviously looked really good and your friend is jealous. How mean of her.
Keep wearing whatever you want to wear.

Agree with other comments, she is marked at the fact that her husband complimented you. If you felt good in the dress then keep wearing it, regardless of your leg veins. I also have 'unslightly' legs but I do not give a toss! I wear what I like, when I like, if the sight of my skin upsets anyone.....tough!

i think what other people have said is right, your friend was jealous because you looked good and her husband noticed it, i would give anything to wear a dress but i have severe psoriasis all down both legs and it is constantly peeling, i have been wearing loose leg jogging trousers for more than 10 years as they have a fluffy lining, i wore a skirt to my partners funeral a few months ago and had to wear very thick black tights. due to stress my legs have got worse so i now have to wear tights all the time as i leave a trail without them, my house (bedroom) need hoovered every day as it looks like it has been snowing...lol go ahead and wear your dresses...buy some more and enjoy them.....can you get an operation for the veins ...sorry assuming it is varicose veins.

Sounds to me as though you’ve got it, and if you’ve got it, flaunt it.

Agree with all the above - jealousy as you were complimented by her husband. How I’d love to be size 10 again with slim legs. I hope you keep wearing dresses to show your figure off. Men do like them. In cold weather opaque tights will take away any remaining insecurities.

Agree with everyone so far. Don't go for a longer dress; if you are not very tall, and petite, as you say, a midi length dress pulls you down even further and looks frumpy.

She isn’t much of a friend! You have confidence in your choices, you felt good, your husband thought you did, she should have not said what she said even if she thought it, unkind.

Sounds like you looked great, I envy you having that figure. Never mind if your legs aren't "absolutely perfect" they are slim, and you obviously looked good to have 2 men complimenting you. Wear another, especially when you're out with her!

Dress to please yourself and if you feel comfortable and confident in the dress, that’s great. If you’re a size 10 and petite, it’s probably a bit of jealousy creeping in. Treat it with the contempt it deserves.

So many women just wear trousers. I wear them but I love to wear a dress and often do. I feel more feminine in a dress and I think I look better than in trousers. If you are concerned about veins why not wear thin tights or even boots if the weather isn't too hot.

Your DH and her DH said how nice your dress was, you like it too, so why listen to the one negative voice? I agree, whether it seems like it or not, she is upset that her DH mentioned it. I'd make a point of wearing it when you meet again .

Thank you all for the encouraging remarks. I really didn't think she was jealous or envious - she is slim and stylish. She does believe in stating her opinion though and will always say if she thinks something looks nice, that's what made me doubt I guess. I will continue to wear the dress and others and give St Tropez a try.

Ive long given up caring what I look like! I dont go out of my way to please anyone nowadays and it takes a lot to knock my confidence.

I would probably have asked "What do you mean by that" and watched her squirm.

Sounds like the length was entirely appropriate so ignore ignore ignore!! Wear dresses more & more. Stuff what anyone else says, you go girl!

I'm sorry it has upset you though I have a skin condition and wear clothes to cover but sometimes I throw caution to the wind and wear whatever I want but I understand how awful it is when you are self conscious and someone comments
