Bath robe recommendations

Cotton Traders dressing gowns last a long time and still look good. Such a shame as I’d really like a new one.

Christy make bathrobes including velour. They look sumptuous.

The ‘trip’ issue with PJs is very real.,I caught one foot in the othe leg and had a nasty fall .,Since then I only wear cropped pjs or ones with a band around the ankle.A friend broke her wrists doing the same thing in palazzo trousers.Re expensive robes , divide the cost by the number of times you wear it. Much better value than an expensive dress you keep in the wardrobe for “best”

I wear a kimono over my pj's and have just ordered another one to wear when I just want to have a 'lazy day'.

I have a very soft velour, pale pink Ted Baker dressing gown
It is beautiful but it's still on the hanger...
My daughter bought it as a present almost a year ago
I'm still cutting about in my M&S blue towelling one. I have a white one very similar and a pink 'thin' one for warmer weather, which was washed and put away weeks ago

I too wear David Nieper dressing gowns. I like the velvet Kaftans and they do last for ages and I wear mine everyday. I am on my second one but the first one is held in reserve for washdays. I am planning to get a new one this winter. They are expensive but last for ages and don't look 'old lady'.

I have an M & S one, must be 20 years old at least. Think with getting older I did become conscious of how long it was and chopped 3" off the bottom for safety sake. Perfect and hopefully will last a good few years yet. Sorry, as haven't bought a DG for a lot of years no recommendations.

The one I use most is from JL's Jasper Conran range lovely white thick cotton and huge hood,the inside is thick cotton towelling and the exterior is slightly velour,it washes beautifully every time .
I use a couple of thinner cotton ones in the summer in pastel colours that I have had for years and always kept well.

I have just had a look at The White company ones, as I fancy a new one as well.
My first thought was they are long? Model 5'7 and its almost to her ankles.
I'm thinking too long for me? So keep that in mind, no trips or falls please.

Mine came from M&S several years ago - a velour type fleece one, in a sort of taupe colour - identical to the one I’d given as a present to a friend of around my height (5’ 7”) who like me, had bewailed the fact that dressing gowns were never long enough.

That particular year, M&S had evidently taken on board complaints about their DGs not being long enough for taller people.

I had mentioned it myself to staff, only to be told that longer ones were a dangerous trip risk. It evidently hadn’t occurred to them that grown ups could perhaps be trusted to choose a suitable length - if given the choice.

Mine is still going strong, is wonderfully cosy and washes beautifully.

My husband bought me a lovely navy blue velvet robe with a zip front from David Nieper. It's gorgeous, washes well and has stayed looking good for years an years. Ye, it was quite expensive but given how long it has lasted I think it was worth it.

Forgot that I also have my mothers dressing gown, 100% cotton, circa 1940s, nothing wrong with it.

I have a dressing gown bought for me by my mother on a rare shopping expedition together 36 years ago. She suffered from depression, then Parkinson's, then dementia added in, so this was on one of her good days. It is one of those quilted ones with a mandarin collar, in a baby pink, dreadfully old fashioned, and I didn't weigh as much as I do now, but I still wear it, could never throw it out. I do have a modern white towelling robe for when there are visitors in the house, bought on a cruise ship.

I think d.gowns go on forever. My other two are 25 and 20 years old respectively and look like new.

I bought a towelling robe from King of Cotton. It is nice, but the threads do pull. Also quite heavy.
Lovely to put on after a bath, as it dries you while wearing it!
My favourite is a kimono type robe, bought in 2000, whilst at Disney, Florida. Still going strong and still love it.

Really dislike the very soft but potentially sweaty material that a lot of pj’s and robes are made off, not sure what it’s called,

I got my lovely full length 100% cotton waffle one free with a spa day. I have to be very careful as it’s white, and no red wine or other stains so far. I prefer that to a thicker winter one which would be too hot in summer, (whatever that is)! It’s lasted years still white even though I don’t boil it, and its not from the white company,
If I hadn’t got that I would be looking in Sainsbury, Asda Matalan, maybe TK Max for one. Sadly white company is over my budget however lovely they may be.

Another White Company devotee here, extremely good quality, lots of choice from fluffy to light silky ones.

I’ve bought cheap ones, even from primark, and unfortunately they seem to last for ever. Still cheap and horrible though. I think I’ll wash them and take them to a charity shop and treat myself to a really nice one. After all, we wear them when we’re cold on winter mornings, and cheering up is needed!

I have a White Company robe too...lovely quality and lasting much longer in top condition than cheaper ones.

I have a hooded, long towelling robe from The White Company and it’s lovely. I’ve had it for many years and it washes well. Previously I had a long velour hooded one. It lasted many years and was washed frequently. If I were choosing again I would aim for the velour one, if the colours available were suitable. I’m not ready for a new one, however, as they do last a long time.

Oh that is good to know, thank you. The cheaper ones are around 24-45 so I guess if I have to replace them then it’s a false economy. Which style did you have from White Company? Did it wear/wash well over a number of years?
