I Feel Bad About My Neck

Ha ha! Thanks Nell!
I’m nowhere near Margaret Rutherford territory yet, thank goodness; but it wouldn’t come as much of a surprise in a couple of decades.
She was so fabulous in ‘Blythe Spirit’.
I heard Radio 4 extra special about her a while ago, she had a really interesting life.
Someone referred to her particular talent for acting with her chin.

Do you remember the actress Margaret Rutherford, Fanny? As she got older her neck became quite loose and wobbly but I always thought she looked very appealing as her face and body were equally animated and her character shone through. So, work it, would be my advice!

Fanny flowers Keep creaming and massaging your neck. smile

Oh, thank you Aldom, I know, I was being silly.
I do understand how precious the years are. My own mom died aged only 50, so it’s rather a poignant landmark birthday.
I know that I’m far from being an old bag, we all are.
(I just need to get the neck to understand this!)

Aldom Sat 14-Aug-21 10:45:15

Fanny When you are fifty you will still be young. An experienced, mature lady, but not an old bag. Enjoy these years. They are a gift. My surviving child is 53. She's definitely not an old bag.

Witzend I have a mere five months of my forties to go; so shall soon be taking to the junior slopes of ‘general old bag-ness’ smile

Witzend Sat 14-Aug-21 10:30:40

At 72 I’m more or less resigned to general old-bag-ness now.

My poor dd though, only 44, and the other day Gdd (6) said to her, ‘Mummy, why don’t you get some of that cream you see on the TV, that makes your skin all nice, like mine?’

All the men in my family have beards which hide any deficiencies in their necks. Although I do have the odd hair on my chins, I am in no way a bearded lady. However, I do have a collection of polo neck jumpers and tops which cover up the unsightly neck.

Ugh, my neck is looking wrinkly as well. It seems to have happened relatively quickly. My lovely 5yr old grand-daughter pointed out to me (thanks hun) that it was 'crinkely'.

Must spend more on lottery, then when I win I can afford lasers to smooth out wrinkles and spots.

Neck not too bad, or face, arms need exercise, body needs toning and about half a stone off. Can’t do much about the neck, but I’ve a target now to reduce weight, tone and exercise before our series of mini breaks start in September. Note to self, buy scarves!

Chrissyoh Fri 13-Aug-21 20:32:30

Just borrowed that on Libby because of your recommendation - I’ll let you know how I get on .
I’ll also check my neck ☺️.

GS12 took himself to the hairdresser yesterday came back and he said, "it's really short.i was thinking i get my baldness from you!.
Thankyou instantly confirming my worry about my thinning fringe - taking the worry away from the crepeness of my 'Decollatage'. I wish i had used factor 50. Neck is looking thick but confirmed baldness is my worst appearance worry.
I am sure FannyCornforth your neck issues won't be as noticeable to others as they are under your close scrutiny.

FannyCornforth Fri 13-Aug-21 19:52:56

Mea? What the hell is going on?
I may as well just give up, with my hippoesque body and weirdly wobbling neck.
In fact, it sort of sways

Nanna58 Fri 13-Aug-21 19:49:22

Oh I love that book, especially the article about ‘ maintenance ‘ I would love not to have to patch, patch patch as she puts it, to prevent looking like a bag lady!

I don’t have time for neck issues as my hideous wrinkly face and creepy arms takes up most of my worry time ……

NotSpaghetti Fri 13-Aug-21 19:43:32

Ha ha! No. My "neck issues" are new. hmm

FannyCornforth Fri 13-Aug-21 19:40:45

… is a collection of writings by ‘When Harry Mer Sally’ script writer; the late, great Nora Ephron.
Like her, I do see that my neck will shortly go out of my control; there seems a lot of loose flesh about.
I have long ago taken the choice between face and body,
I don’t want ‘Team Face’ to let me down!
Has anyone conquered their neck issues?
