I was a very naive teenager and wasn't aware that there were good legs or bad legs. You did get fat and thin, muscular or bony, suntanned or not.
If mine worked and got me from A-B I was glad.
My elder sister borrowed a skirt of mine and cut off about 6 inches to make it a mini for her. I was taller so couldn't wear it again. I was not pleased!
I agree that a tunic over leggings is flattering for most figures.
My mum and dad used to be in despair at the length of my skirts. ‘ You can’t go out in that’ was a familiar phrase. Now think it would be the children who would be saying it!
It is far too cold for short skirts here in Scotland. Anyway aren't we all supposed to be turning the heating down and wearing more layers? Or perhaps walking more to keep warm and leaving our cars at home.
My shopping trolley is coming into its own now. See you out and about! that's not me BTW
Some of the things I now describe as "tunics" and wear with trousers are probably longer than some of the skirts I once wore. I never go higher than the knee now. I do like dresses that just cover the tops of my knee length boots.
I just wouldn't! I still have slim legs but, I've noticed, older women lose the shape in their thighs and calves that makes legs look good. Even with thick tights or leggings, I'd never go shorter than knee length now.
(There's a gran, at the school, who wears jeggings and short jumpers. She's slim - but looks a real sight. Two stick legs, no bum and a bit of a tummy! Why don't people check their side and rear shape in a mirror?)
I wear short skirts in the winter with thick tights and short boots, but I do have skinny legs! Don't in the summer, I prefer long swishy cool skirts then. ?
I was in my late thirties when I last had one. Used to wear mini dresses in teens and early twenties. These days I like maxi and like to see anything with a bit of swishy.
Funny enough Yamny many of my skirts are described as mini skirts especially if I pick one up from M&S but they still come to around knee length. Being on the short side anything long comes to my ankles. I do prefer knee length or just above my legs aren't that bad whilst the rest of me has gone to pot lol
Lucca I with you, shouldn’t have worn them in the sixties and definitely won’t be wearing them now! Apart from anything thing else they can be a bit chilly!

After a conversation with DD and reading articles it seemed mini skirts are the fashion for Winter this year. Can you remember when you last wore a mini skirt and will you be partaking of the trend? Mine would be the early 70's and stopped when I started teaching and showing my pants. I think I would dare to bare my legs to the knee if covered in thick black tight but would probably look like a lollypop on a stick.
