Catherine doesn’t really have a ‘waist’.
She’s of what is called an athletic build, straight up and down.
That’s why this style of dress doesn’t suit her body type

Yes I agree. Maybe thats why I thought of a dramatic belt.

I thought she looked lovely, and also comfortable.

It was a 10 yr old dress, both she & William were wearing clothes from 10 yrs ago to make the point about sustainable fashion. I thought that programme was so inspirational and really made me think we can repair the world. Think it's a bit more important than Kate's belt somehow!

Well of course grannyrebel we know all that, but Namsnanny posted under the title "Style and Beauty", not "Environmental Issues".

Yes Josianne Thanks for understanding.

I expected some would not agree with my 'take' on the fashion style. Or some would take umbrage that I commented on her at all. But I was forgetting that others get hot under the collar about more or less anything. grin

I like fashion and always look at what people are wearing.

It was just a fancy of mine to share my thoughts on GN.

Back to the dress. Having the waistband in the same colour as the dress as you said, would also have worked Joseanne so long as it was wide and full of folds as the dress was (a bit like a Grecian style).

Of course being the supreme fashion know all that I am (sat here in 6 year old sweats and Tshirt!!) All should listen and learn.grin

Joking aside, I'm glad I'm not alone in taking an interest.

I believe Richard Madeley commented on how small Kate's waist is on GMB this morning and got a great deal of flack for not mentioning the environmental issues. I'm just following on from that opinion. Having said that she always looks great.

The dress is very much a late 50s early 60s starlet type frock.
I can imagine hourglass types like Diana Dors or Joan Collins wearing it back in the day

^But I would have liked the dress to have had a more dramatic belt. Maybe a wide corset clincher? Or a wide contrasting fabric sash, possibly with a huge bow?^

Why would Kate dress ostentatiously when she looks best in stylish, understated things?

I’ve just googled corset clincher.

?????

I thought she looked fabulous and classy (as she always does!)
I thought the whole programme was inspirational.

Deedaa Mon 18-Oct-21 16:27:05

I liked the dress as it is, perhaps I'm losing my touch?

Shelflife Mon 18-Oct-21 16:24:06

She looks amazing and would do so whatever she was wearing!

Josianne Mon 18-Oct-21 16:21:30

If you look at the Alexander McQueen collection most of the dresses have the waist band in the same colour as the dress. Maybe that would have been better?

Jeepers - I’m surprised anyone is focussed on this. Having had my attention drawn . My view is she dresses well and needs no suggestions from gransnet

Josianne Mon 18-Oct-21 15:59:06

Definitely round the waist.

Josianne Mon 18-Oct-21 15:55:59

I spotted that. It was beautiful fabric and hung well on her, but something was a bit wrong.

Namsnanny Mon 18-Oct-21 15:51:25

She looked gorgeous as usual. But I would have liked the dress to have had a more dramatic belt.
