Skincare suggestions

My skin seems to have got more sensitive as I have got older! Tried all sorts throughout the years and always come back to Clarins. Apparently CereVe is very good as well as Roche Pose - not expensive

I have sensitive skin prone to excema so I use Aveeno facial moisturiser, £7.99 from Tesco. I don't find this oily. I have a problem with make-up removal as most wash offs dry out my skin and cause flare ups. So any advice on that would be welcome. If you have oily prone skin the washoffs would probably be ok for you.

SBC for me used for 15 years + direct from there web site, Amazon, and qvc if you online shop, I have very sensitive skin and find this range great in fact top to toe almost just need the hair care, hope to find it under the tree

Micellar water (Nivea?) takes off even waterproof mascara.

'Simple' are good. They're PH balanced.
Myself, I rarely use anything, allergic/intolerant to lots, just cold water and the occasional deep clean.

I use Elemis soap bar as it cleanses and moisturises all in one. A bit pricey but I am still using this after buying in March. Big fan of Decleor but it is becoming more expensive.

I think you need to wash of any residue from cleansers etc otherwise bacteria could build up on the skin.
Do try Aldi creams they are very good and cheap !

Lidl Cien range - eye cream, intensive serum, day and night moisturiser. Cheap as chips but will check carbon footprint now

For years i have just used Nivea wipes for dry or sensitive skin, and a bit of Nivea soft moisturiser, morning and night. About twice a week I give my face a wash with warm water with a touch of baby wash in it and then use the Nivea moisturiser. That's all I've done in about 15 years (I'm 65.) I never use make up. People often tell me my skin is very young looking so it works for me.

I use La Roche-Posay Hydraphase for moisturising and Nuxe wash off facial cleansing. Both are stocked by high Street retailers, mid-priced and often on offer. Both can be used sparingly.

Chamomile cleansing balm from body shop removes all makeup including eye makeup and is very gentle followed by aldi lacura serum I also use L'oreal age perfect golden age cream it is very rich but sinks straight into skin

I loved Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel but its discontinued. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser for normal to dry skin, is really good... It's a wash off cleanser and doesn't dry out your skin. Its fragrance free for very sensitive skin. Not expensive.

I use L'Oreal cleanser then micellar water . L'Oréal do products specially formulated for over 60s & even over 65. Your skin changes as you age. My mother had beautiful skin even in her 80s. She never put water on her face.

Also serum makes a huge difference to skin. So many available. Check out a suitable one for your skin. Use after cleansing & before moisturiser.

Clinique Cleansing Bar (aka soap, really) and Elemis Marine moisturiser. I don't know if I could do better with anything else as most skin creams seem to give me spots, which although they make me feel like a teenager, they are NOT welcome.

I used Liz Earle hot cloth for a few years. Due to cost I changed to M & S Formula hot cloth. Again due to increasing cost found Aldi and Superdrug hot cloth cleansers and can find no difference from the most expensive. Bundle of Ikea wash flannels been a staple too.

I use Beauty Pie skin care which is both good quality and much lower prices than other brands. Their Vitamin C lotion is just amazing and I use it both night and morning. My skin just drinks it in and it helps even out pigmentation, red patches and plumps my skin up. The Triple Hylauronic Serum and Retinoid Cream is also very good for aging skins I have found. The makeup is not so good but the Skincare products are a real find.!

I know a lot of people like L'Oréal but I don't like the smell or the slightly pink sheen that many of them add to your skin. I don't find that they leave my skin properly moisturised either, just a temporary surface cover. I prefer a cream that makes my skin feel moist for longer.

I use Micellar water for cleansing in the evening, it is very good and I have used various brands, The Pound Shop do one which is very similar to Boots Number 7 brand and has excellent reviews. If I wear eye makeup I use Nivea double effect eye makeup remover. I also exfoliate once a week followed by a face pack and find Clinique 7 day scrub and Clinique deep cleansing mask by far the best, a tube of each lasts for ages. I like to use water to wash my face in the morning and use Clinique foaming face wash which also lasts for ages. My skin is still slightly oily so I don’t use day cream but I use night cream and buy Aldi’s Caviar night cream when I can get it or another type which Aldi sell, the reviews of all their face creams are excellent.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll pass on the white vinegar Namsnanny. It sounds too similar to dabbing problem areas with TCP or peroxide which I did as a teen! I notice that all the other suggestions are wash off cleansers and wonder if this is where I am going wrong. I've always gone for a bottle of cleanser, put it on a cotton wool pad or two and wipe face. Then clean off residue with toner. Is that passee? I find it nice and easy to sit at my dressing table and wipe off in front of the mirror but may be I need a total rethink on my routine!

I think you're right about the cream cleansers, I do occasionally use one if I've been wearing a lot of make up for an occasion, but find that I have to use micellar water to get rid of the residue - which is a bit harsh for my own skin.

I have been using Facetheory products for a while now and really like them. Many reviews say they are as good as very expensive products and much more reasonable in price. There is an option on the website to 'Build a routine' which is very useful too.

Well I'm afraid I'm a cheap and cheerful Gran, always have been. Coconut oil rubbed into skin and wiped off with 3 for a quid packs of cleansing wipes (if I wear make up which is seldom these days of WFH) - or if no make up just a wash with soap and water. Moisturiser from the pound shop. My skin's not too bad - in fact I'm in better nick in my sixties than I expected to be as a young woman - or maybe it's cos I can't see myself very well in the mirror lol

It's very expensive, but l use elemis cream cleanser and moisturiser. It does last a long time though. I tried boots no.7 for years,but recently they haven't had any stock in and that's in 3 separate stores.
