White trendy trainers.

Last night, watching the interview stage of The Apprentice, I was astounded at the spindly heels those young women managed to walk on. Now, if white trainers are so fashionable at present, why were they not wearing those?
I remember, when I was 16, 'whitening' my tennis shoes with Meltonian cream, and, one day, I put them in the Rayburn's oven to dry. Luckily my mum managed to get them out before the soles melted. How are all these fancy white trainers kept so pristine?

Never, they make your feet look twice their size.

I really like the Addidas Nissa flatform ones...you can often buy them under £50.00 ?

Trainers from Dune London, I find these are comfortable and look good to wear with casual wear and dresses.

Yep BlueBelle and Lucca I have bought shoes from charity shops: mainly “high end” names because if I see my size it is a rarity and a bargain.

Found some black leather Ecco lace ups and have worn them so much, a charity bargain.! The leather is still in superb condition after 4years but sadly the soles have shredded. Feel bad throwing them away.
Also I find some sensible shoes just too flat and “ploddy” and so look for a little lift at the heal end, but am not keen on the long exaggerated tongues.

As an aside: has anyone noticed that charity shops are filled these days with the most incredibly high heeled shoes ?, some are like works of art in cabinets. I fear that’s where most are destined to remain.
Perhaps being crippled by footwear is gong out of fashion.

I also have a pair of white Skechers - about £60. Very comfy and slip on so no laces to worry about. I haven't washed them a bit of Cif gets marks off but I would put them in the washing machine if needed.

The OP actually asked for recommendations of trainers in the £80 bracket, so that is why many posters are coming up with named brands they like! No one really cares what anyone else thinks of their choice.

Funny isn’t it £85 is the ‘not expensive’ range for most people on here !!!

I love my trainers of all shapes and sizes and colours but from the charity shop and I can hear you all going
‘ugh she wears shoes that other people feet have been in oh how could she’ well I m still alive I have good feet and never caught anything yet I m always complemented on my clothes and shoes little do they know

I.m actually NOT paying for a name.I’ve had ecco shoes which I’ve worn so much and for so many years, and had such comfortable wear from that they are far better value than cheaper ones. They were silver ones but I’ve got some off white ones now.

I wouldn't dream of paying £80 for pair of trainers. Not even £50. Just because they're a designer brandmdoesn't always mke them a better buy. You're only paying over the odds for the name.

Not for me! I'd feel as though I was going to play tennis or just been to PT at school!

I think I read* (on line, this morning) that 75% of all shoes and trainers are made in China. Most New Balance trainers are produced in the USA.

I now try not to buy anything from China

I also second VEGA’s. I find them super comfortable. They are also still v trendy and age-appropriate for us too. The distinctive sloping “V” on them will mark you out as an on-trend gran lol ! They are also made of sustainable leather but beware the vegan ones obviously if you want actual leather.

Agree totally with Clarks, Sketchers etc being v comfortable…. But if you want to be on-trend and comfortable, I’m afraid they won’t do haha!

Apart from when playing tennis when I was younger I have never worn trainers or white shoes either.

Best trainers I bought are beige ish with metallic leather trim and very tastefully fashioned, unfortunately they were bought in Berlin but I did have some great leather Reebok very slimline and non ' bulky'. I'd be very careful withs white you could look typically grannyish and a bit 'does she want a drink?' ish!!!!!!
