Do you think the baggy, shapeless, oversized clothing trend is flattering?

I think it looks terrible on most people.

What's the point of looking after your figure, only to hide it in swathes of loose oversized, droopy shapeless material?
Also, I've noticed that this particular look makes people look far bigger than they actually are.
It's a look that's only really flattering on the very slim and the very young, and even then it still doesn't look that great.
Its not going to look good on the average British woman.

Of course that's just my opinion.
What do you think?

I don't mind a bit of a puffed sleeve. Quite like shoulder pads in jackets as well

I think the looser dresses, such as the ones Lucca has posted are good for the summer when it’s hot, but the loose, layered look is more difficult in, say, rainy weather, unless you top it all with a massive coat. I think the cut of baggy clothing makes all the difference - if it fits well around the bust, then flares out a bit, it’s maybe more flattering than just a ‘sack’ dress. So the first one is more flattering than the second?

Oh, I really dislike the trend for puffed sleeves though

I really like the dresses in the above pics.
But, they are using very slim models.
Would those dresses look as effective and hang as nicely on a person size 16 and over?

Yes why not

To me that will depend on your own shape to start with! Personal preference, I know, but to me, anything tight/revealing is much best suited to the slim.

Sleeves are a particular Thing for me - if anyone wants to display their flabby old bingo-wings arms, good luck to them, but it’s not a look I will ever go for.

I like the look, I don’t think it necessarily makes you look fat, I’ve always favoured loose fitting clothes, even when I was thin.
I don’t like trainers though, never owned a pair.

I don’t follow trends at all. People wearing those puffer jackets to me looked ridiculous. I saw a woman the other day with a long black puffy sort of coat that reached her ankles and honestly it really looked ridiculous, I wear what I know suits me… which I have to say is mainly jeans sweatshirts T-shirts and jumpers..?

They look nice on me, I can assure you smile

And on me!
Here are some looks I really like …loose fitting and flattering

I will be wearing something similar to the Glesca Grannies meet up today.
Now I am wondering...........???

FannyCornforth Tue 15-Mar-22 08:12:37

That is absolutely the thing I like too Lucca, especially the three quarter length sleeves - so flattering.

BlueBelle Tue 15-Mar-22 08:11:21

But do you have to follow the oversized look Snowberry if you don’t like it and don’t find it flattering why not, as the song says “walk on by”

Yes, well spotted, no, I’ve never liked her!
(With her third in Engineering ?)
I’m a bit tongue in cheek as well op, don’t take everything I say too seriously.

I bet that you aren’t a fan of Gudren Sjoden (sp?)

I think they look good.

However, what they're wearing isnt that baggy and oversized.

Casdon, well put.

I love an oversized jacket, but I would
pair it with something a bit more fitting (not tight).

It's the overall oversized look that's not going to be flattering on anyone over the age of 60.

BlueBelle Tue 15-Mar-22 08:06:44

I do love baggy dungarees though the most comfortable thing in the world with trainers and a t shirt underneath

There’s nothing ‘natural’ about Vorderman’s ‘curves’!

I didn't day there was
I am talking about women in general.
You seem a bit obsessed with poor old Carol Vordemon.

What's she ever done to you?shock

Casdon Tue 15-Mar-22 08:04:35

Somewhere between the two extremes is good. Unfortunately most older people don’t have flawless bodies so clingy isn’t a good look - but shapeless isn’t either. For myself I prefer narrow fitted trousers or jeans, but a looser top - but whichever way round you do it I think you need at least part of your outfit fitted to your body so you don’t look bigger than you are. Show off your best bits is probably the way to go!

I wear dresses with trainers too!
You’d hate how I dress Snowberry!

I wear them as well, but I don't kid myself they look nice on grin

It’s the stretchy ultra-tight sports leggings on everyone!
Honestly it’s bad enough seeing every ripple of a pert, young bum but on the over 50s. It’s ok in the gym but for a shopping trip it’s not necessary or flattering. It’s when the “ripple pattern” is so stretched out and under stress it just looks awful.
