The nearest that I get to that look is in the summer when wearing trousers of various length. Think Judy Dench and that’s the nearest I get.

My favourite look for summer. To me JD gets it right every time, stylish modern but not a slave to fashion !

I'm another one who has never heard of most of the names on here. I have discovered harem pants over the past couple of years, not as tight and clingy as leggings and they have pockets for phone and tissues. A long loose T shirt or tunic top and maybe a long cardi if it's cold. That's my wardrobe really, nice and comfortable. My tailors are Tesco, Asda and Bon Marche when I really need to buy something.

I can remember making dresses and skirts like that for my DD when they were little
And what were called RahRah skirts - tiered gathered layers

My DM used to maintain that dresses with flounces were a cheapskate way of saving material and yet charging the same amount. You didn't the full length of fabric from waist to hem if you grafted a separate piece along the bottom.

It's not the frill round the bottom, although that would be bad enough on anyone over a certain age- it's the whirring on the bodice!
Ok on my DGD but she wouldn't wear a dress anyway, not even if she got paid ?
Although I could perhaps persuade her that a bribe of a a few thousands to model it might be worth it!

Your style sounds like mine, Sara. Mine is supplemented by long jumpers and leggings in winter, but otherwise sounds very much the same.

I don’t know that my style has changed enormously since the seventies.
I always loved velvet, cheesecloth, crinkle cotton, and always long trailing dresses, and gorgeous embroidered smock tops. We were all a bit mad on Laura Ashley as well
Then I got bit more grown up and discovered Monsoon and East, and we have a couple of really good independent shops around here.
I still like long dresses and only ever wear boots or sandals.
Obviously, my style has been greatly modified, but I’m still attracted to the same things.

About 15 years ago I was 35, so not of ‘a certain age’

I still like waterfall tunics!

Apparently I need an oscar shirt, which is apparently well known in the Lagenlook World

So, I've had a shuffty on the Lagenlook sites and in the interests of trying to keep up with the times, i might buy just one item, as a nod to the the whole thing.

I must admit, some of it does look like a load of cheap tat and reminds me of those dreadful tunic style waterfall tops that ladies of a certain age were wearing about 15 years ago.

I'm tall so hopefully an oversized top won't look too bad on me and I won't look like an extra from LhotP.
Maybe in white. To go with my trendy white trainers!
