Trends you'll be glad to see the back of and won't miss one bit.

Boxy tops with no shape.
Oversized clothes. I work hard to try and keep my waist. No ways am I hiding it in shapeless boxy tops.
Ditto oversized clothing.
High-waisted trousers. I prefer mid rise.

Bit of a contentious one but I'm sick of seeing white trainers etc everywhere. I went for a meal the other day and every woman seemed to be wearing a dress with white trainers.
So uninspiring and if your feet are larger than a size 5, white makes them look huge

What are yours?

Scribbles

Ripped jeans
Wide legged trousers
High waisted trousers
Invented pronouns: just pick the one you dislike least from he/she/it
Being told to "stay safe".

I hate being told to "stay safe" and also "drive carefully"! What do people think we're going to do if they don't remind us - drive like maniacs?

Apart from the gelled nails you could be my twin GG. Oh and am only 5’1.

seadragon Wed 30-Mar-22 13:46:57

I recently bought a bright mustard corduroy trouser suit; both jacket and trousers were oversized and the trousers were also high waisted! I feel great in them and have received many compliments..so much so that I have bought another suit of the same design, but in 'rust' for the winter. A young waitress immediately and enthusiastically recognized the maker (not an exclusive one BTW) and we had a lovely chat about their gorgeous clothes. Each to his or her own, I say. BTW, I'm 72.

Decorating trends which include the industrial look and modern farmhouse. I spent weeks looking for new couches that weren’t big and boxy and grey. What happened to pretty things/furniture? Trying to find a new bathroom light for over the sink but it’s all ugly.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 30-Mar-22 13:44:26

Oh dear snowberryZ I am 5’2” ???

snowberryZ Wed 30-Mar-22 13:42:41

I love wide floaty trousers.
I think they look better on taller people.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 30-Mar-22 13:39:05

I have been avoiding this, but here goes…

I love skinny jeans
I love white trainers with long floaty oversized dresses
I love boxy tops
I love keeping my nails gelled all year round (med length)
I love a french tuck (needs to be done correctly though
I love wide floaty trousers

I like high waisted trousers, but then I’m very long-bodied, so even supposedly high waisted ones often aren’t high enough and I’m constant hitching them up.

M&S* high waisted ‘cosy’ jeggings are a notable exception - I bought 2 pairs months ago and have been living in them ever since.
*and it’s very rare nowadays for me to sing any praises of M&S!

As for the long dresses with trainers, IMO they look very comfortable and often very attractive, too.

What I do really dislike is any ‘cropped’ trousers - unless the wearer is really tall and slim. Otherwise they look dreadful IMO. I once saw a short, fat woman trying on a peach-coloured pair in the M&S changing room - she was asking a friend or whoever it was, what she thought.
‘Yes, nice,’ was the (presumably kind and polite) reply.
I had to stop myself from yelling, ‘Nooooo! Put them back - they look bloody awful!’

French tucks.
Looks messy. Unless I'm not doing it right.

LillyPud Wed 30-Mar-22 13:17:15

I REALLY hate this French Tuck trend, often seen on QVC, This Morning etc, where one side of your shirt is tucked in and the other half left hanging. Loathe with a passion.

Neilspurgeon0 Wed 30-Mar-22 13:11:59

Absolutely support this to room 101

4allweknow Wed 30-Mar-22 13:02:01

Slug eyebrows
Huge spider eyelashes
Lipfillers
Oversized gleaming white teeth
Makeup, skin care adverts where eg 25 people out of 160 found a product fabulous
Particularly in the current financial crisis interior design programmes showing changes for £0000s

28Luckygirl

Me too. I still have boot cut from the last time smile

Esmay Wed 30-Mar-22 12:40:28

As above !

But each to their own .
I'm sure that I don't look great in big frocks and trainers !

Big frocks cover up my lumpy body and trainers are the only shoes that I can walk in !

Plus over use of the word iconic and the expression oh my God !

Glasgo Wed 30-Mar-22 12:36:57

Brilliant snowberryZ, many thanks for finding an example. I am entertained and exasperated in equal measure. confused

Mallin Wed 30-Mar-22 12:33:45

I have size 12 legs and thighs. So wear tight fitting trousers with a baggy top which hides my size 20 upper figure.

Sharina Wed 30-Mar-22 12:30:23

Heavy eyebrows! So very ugly. They take away from the pretty face and lovely eyes. Tattoos. Am longing to see uninked skin! People go around looking like they’ve escaped from kindergarten.

snowberryZ Wed 30-Mar-22 12:22:55

Ah so this is Vocal Fry.
Would be easier to do with an American accent

Whiterabbit1956 Wed 30-Mar-22 12:22:10

1) ... Painted on eye brows
2) ... pierced lips and tongues
3) ... female celebrities wearing almost nothing
4) ... people who only wear a piece of clothing once (is this one allowed?)
5) ... high heeled shoes with stilettos (especially when they walk on my oak floors).
6) ... large breast implants
7) ... New jeans with frayed bits and holes in them

lovebeigecardigans1955 Wed 30-Mar-22 12:20:53

I don't follow trends any more but I'll be glad to see the back of stilletto heels for good - I believe some women still wear them, I'm a trainer gal myself.

What about torn trousers with enormous ripped holes in them? T'other day I saw some which was almost more hole than trouser leg. Inelegant to say the least.

Glasgo Wed 30-Mar-22 12:20:07

Not one particular example snowberryZ. But if you listen to any reality/quiz show with young women taking part you will recognise it. My daughter informed me it is called vocal fry and originated in America.

rockgran Wed 30-Mar-22 12:19:35

The front tuck. One shoulder bared. Extra long sleeves. I've just realised that I could go on for ever so will stop now! hmm

winterwhite Wed 30-Mar-22 12:19:26

Ripped jeans and trainers with dresses on people over 30 remind me of the expression mutton dressed on lamb.

And though not a 'trend', beige-coloured anything.

cc Wed 30-Mar-22 12:19:06

timetogo2016

Caterpillar eye brows and cod face lips.

I hate this too. I do worry if the fish-faced women are condemning themselves to having to permanently use these fillers. So ugly in my opinion.
And the eyebrows are just awful. At least if they're drawn in they can be removed but so many are too dark, too thick and too permanent

FannyCornforth Wed 30-Mar-22 12:14:51

jaylucy I agree with everything that you’ve said; including your opinion on Wordle Green smile
