My hair is very dry and looks straw like. Do any of you use a leave in conditioner ? If so what are the results and recommendations please ?

My hairdresser suggested Milk_shake leave in conditioner...my hair is very thick and frizzy.
Wonderful stuff and it doesn't weigh hair down.

It's not the cheapest but lasts for ages as you only need a small amount.

Saw this thread revived this morning, and I still haven't managed to find the John Frieda leave in conditioner, although in some web sites, it says it is available.
Going to have my hair cut this morning, and maybe another search.

I use Argan oil, a pea-sized blob on one hand, rub my hands together then rub them through my hair.
Seems to work against the impact of swimming on my hair since the swim cap is only partially successful.

LadyGracie

I have been using Head and Shoulders lemon shampoo and conditioner.

No, I don’t have and have never had dandruff.

I always used to use shampoo and conditioner combined but these days it’s very hard to find or at least I found it so. I did try Dove but found it too heavy leaving my hair flat.

H & S leaves my grey hair very shiny, no more straw-like ends.
Highly recommended, it smells great too.

Does it come with the handsome chap from the H&S TV advert

This works well on my white hair…

I know you’ve had lots of great suggestions so far, but thought I’d mention the one I’ve used for years for my curly hair.
The Conditioner by Paul Mitchell.

Tried all of the above with various results and then found Garnier Hair food conditioner.put on before washing or when wet and wash out or leave in. Also can be put on dry hair. Very very pleased. Big round pot.

Thanks *J52g and Auntieflo. I will have a look at those you have recommended.

3 recommendations, I will surely find one that suits my hair. ?

GrandmaSeaDragon, glad you like it as well.
I used to love the John Frieda Frizzease Hair Spray, but it seemed to disappear ages ago. I wonder why?

Jane43 Wed 20-Apr-22 14:28:06

All the Aussie products are very good for dry hair, the hair treatments are very effective. You can get individual ones, they call them shots. I got mine from Boots, ‘Aussie SOS Moisture Treatment Shot’ and it left my dry hair in much better condition and more manageable. You leave it on for three minutes then rinse it off.

I love Milkshake leave in conditioner, it definitely works for me. It can be bought online from various beauty companies, I believe Amazon also sells it.

Oh dear Josieann. It sounds like you used too much and didn’t just put it on the mid lengths to ends. I use a Wella one that I got from the hairdresser ages ago, even though my hair is below my shoulders I only spray in a small amount so it’s lasted ages. This is before I dry my hair in addition to using normal rinse out conditioner after washing. Works very well but don’t overdo it or put it near the roots!

Aha, thank you, and J52 for the photo. The one I used wasn't a spray but in a potion like brown bottle and I dolloped it on all over!

Hithere Wed 20-Apr-22 13:22:39

I use one that only costs $4.

paddyann54 Wed 20-Apr-22 13:02:46

I use Philip Kingsley on my coloured hair and Aussie Original on my GD's both work well

SuzieHi Wed 20-Apr-22 12:51:00

The one I’m using at the mo is Toni & Guy leave in conditioner- in a 100 ml tube. Stops frizzy hair & leaves it soft not heavy. Avon used to do a good one but haven’t checked that out for ages

GrandmaSeaDragon Wed 20-Apr-22 09:54:13

Sorry Auntieflo, didn’t see your comment before sending mine!

GrandmaSeaDragon Wed 20-Apr-22 09:52:00

I’ve tried so many things on my brillo-like curls it would sound like a Boots advert to list them all! The latest one is John Frieda frizz ease all in one, which can be used on wet or dry hair. Seems to work better than others (well tested on seaside walks last week) and gives my now natural grey hair a lovely shine.

Auntieflo Wed 20-Apr-22 09:49:19

John Frieda leave in spray conditioner works for me.

kissngate Wed 20-Apr-22 09:46:10

I use Childs Farm for dry and curly hair.

J52 Wed 20-Apr-22 09:21:57

I use a little Argan oil rubbed through wet hair then Superdrug hair therapy spray, after drying. It’s lightweight, tames and leaves a lovely shine. £3.99 and lasts ages.
