My hair is very dry and looks straw like. Do any of you use a leave in conditioner ? If so what are the results and recommendations please ?

Giving you a wave, Kate!

My daughter bought me a magazine subscription and with it came a tube of Aveena, leave in conditioner.
I don't normally use use hair care like that, but I have to say that has greatly improved my dry hair, caused by my medication.

I tried a leave in conditioner for my curly hair it does stop the fly aways a bit more than my normal conditioner I’ll use it all up but not sure I’ll bother to buy anymore as it was expensive.

I used an argan oil leave in conditioner once and it looked like I had poured cooking oil on my head. I was going out in London on the tube that day and all the filth just stuck to it. Not a good look!

For years I used an excellent Kerastase leave in spray conditioner which I prefer but sadly it was discontinued. I can’t use cream conditioners as they leave my hair very lank. No idea how much I have spent buying what promises to be a leave in spray but to no avail.

Good luck with your search Kate, I will follow this thread hoping someone has found what I am looking for. ?

Hello Marydoll hope you are feeling better. ?. I would if it is my collection of tablets that have affected my hair.

I’ll try the Aveena. T U.

I’ve just discovered Garnier Ultimate Blends no rinse conditioner for dehydrated hair. It contains coconut and aloe vera. I have jaw length hair and just use a pea size blob. I wash my hair, towel dry, massage in the conditioner and wrap my hair in towel again to absorb any excess. Working quite well at moment.

Oh dear Josieann. It sounds like you used too much and didn’t just put it on the mid lengths to ends. I use a Wella one that I got from the hairdresser ages ago, even though my hair is below my shoulders I only spray in a small amount so it’s lasted ages. This is before I dry my hair in addition to using normal rinse out conditioner after washing. Works very well but don’t overdo it or put it near the roots!

Aussie do a really effective spray leave-in conditioner. Worth trying

Kalu Wed 20-Apr-22 09:02:45

Thanks Katek, I will look into the Aussie one. ?

@Kalu ?

I use a little Argan oil rubbed through wet hair then Superdrug hair therapy spray, after drying. It’s lightweight, tames and leaves a lovely shine. £3.99 and lasts ages.

I use Childs Farm for dry and curly hair.

Auntieflo Wed 20-Apr-22 09:49:19

John Frieda leave in spray conditioner works for me.

GrandmaSeaDragon Wed 20-Apr-22 09:52:00

I’ve tried so many things on my brillo-like curls it would sound like a Boots advert to list them all! The latest one is John Frieda frizz ease all in one, which can be used on wet or dry hair. Seems to work better than others (well tested on seaside walks last week) and gives my now natural grey hair a lovely shine.

GrandmaSeaDragon Wed 20-Apr-22 09:54:13

Sorry Auntieflo, didn’t see your comment before sending mine!

The one I’m using at the mo is Toni & Guy leave in conditioner- in a 100 ml tube. Stops frizzy hair & leaves it soft not heavy. Avon used to do a good one but haven’t checked that out for ages

paddyann54 Wed 20-Apr-22 13:02:46

I use Philip Kingsley on my coloured hair and Aussie Original on my GD's both work well

Hithere Wed 20-Apr-22 13:22:39

I use one that only costs $4.

Aha, thank you, and J52 for the photo. The one I used wasn't a spray but in a potion like brown bottle and I dolloped it on all over!

I love Milkshake leave in conditioner, it definitely works for me. It can be bought online from various beauty companies, I believe Amazon also sells it.

Jane43 Wed 20-Apr-22 14:28:06

All the Aussie products are very good for dry hair, the hair treatments are very effective. You can get individual ones, they call them shots. I got mine from Boots, ‘Aussie SOS Moisture Treatment Shot’ and it left my dry hair in much better condition and more manageable. You leave it on for three minutes then rinse it off.

Auntieflo Wed 20-Apr-22 14:34:05

GrandmaSeaDragon, glad you like it as well.
I used to love the John Frieda Frizzease Hair Spray, but it seemed to disappear ages ago. I wonder why?

Kalu Wed 20-Apr-22 16:58:31

Thanks *J52g and Auntieflo. I will have a look at those you have recommended.

3 recommendations, I will surely find one that suits my hair. ?

Tried all of the above with various results and then found Garnier Hair food conditioner.put on before washing or when wet and wash out or leave in. Also can be put on dry hair. Very very pleased. Big round pot.
