Have you joined any professional guilds/institutes with newsletters or blogs/articles?
Is there an online q&a?

Could you call, say,

And tell them you are new and ask for help/advice? They sell many different brands and can probably provide a reason why one tool I'd "better" than another.
Of course some of this may be subjective and depend on how the tool sits in your own hand.

Could you go to a shop? That way you can probably hold them.
