...... and pondering why she drags her hair off her face so violently that she has at least an inch of hairline where she is bald. Traction alopecia I believe it is called.

I puzzle similarly when I see others who have done this; and get slightly annoyed when I see it being done to children. Is it just me?

you might as well wonder why some people smoke, or bite their nails, scratch their head etc.
you know, like, not everyone is actually perfect.
not sure what you mean about it being done to children, is that a version of the so-called essex face-lift.

Must admit I hadn't noticed, didn't realise about traction alopecia at all. I though you got alopecia through stress.
