Shoes - the Princess and the pea

I know just how the Princess must have felt in the children’s fairy tale!!
If there is a wrinkle, a rough stitch or tiny knot, a sharp edge anywhere in a pair of shoes or boots, I know I will suffer!
So thrilled this morning to try on a new pair of Rieker trainer /walking - type shoes which are like pillows under my feet!
Honestly, I am not on commission, but these are light enough for now, but equally good in bad weather, just so soft, wide enough, have lovely springy soles and come in a rather funky animal print. I don’t think they are leather, but look like leather and suede with a lovely, safe ridged sole for slippy days
I wouldn’t say I have impossibly problem feet, but the joy of finding something which I like and is really comfortable well, that’s me sorted!
I will give them a good try out this coming week and if I am still happy, they’ll be coming with me to Paris next weekend.

I discovered that I loved Reiker shoes when I carefully examined all my shoes that were comfortable and discovered that they were all Reiker ones!

Both DD1 and I are converts to Reiker. We generally get them from QVC.
Your shoes are on their website for £52 Maw. (hope you haven’t paid more?).

My apologies Maw. They are £62 - fat fingers again!

Comfort starts with the feet, doesn't it? If your feet are being pinched or whatever you just don't feel right, they're as important as a good hair day for the spirits.

I read somewhere that as a Pisces (fish) that I’m more likely to have problem feet! I’ve got to say I do have trouble getting comfortable shoes.

I really like those. Sadly, they don't sell them, or anything, in my size. I should have expected that, but hope springs eternal!

Georgesgran -I’m a Pisces too, perhaps that is to blame. ♓️

They were from QVC and yes, £62, but Gabor who used to be my favourite shoe label would probably have been twice as much!

I've no idea what Reikers cost but it is certainly best not to skimp when buying shoes. I would never buy shoes from a catalogue or online because I like to try them on first.

JackyB Sat 10-Sept-22 07:59:18

Sah, I've just had a look. They are available here in Germany and they're not expensive at all! Unfortunately I don't need any shoes at the moment. So I don't know why I'm here at all, really!

I love Reiker shoes. Unfortunately I have to pay extra to have o a sole raised which reduces the number of shoes I'd like to buy but it's worth the money. Comfort is key! And the choice is great. I buy mine online and - touch wood - they've fitted well.

I googled Reiker Shoes and it seems they are part of the Pavers group. This put me off slightly.

MawtheMerrier Sat 10-Sept-22 11:14:29

Why?

Georgesgran Sat 10-Sept-22 11:57:41

Great minds Maw?

Georgesgran Sat 10-Sept-22 12:36:47

I can’t see they are part of Pavers (not that that would be a problem for me). They are an independent company started in Europe – they have since moved production to three sites, one in Europe one in Asia and one in Africa. The company employs 20,000.

Thanks for the recommendation Maw another Reiker fan here.

I’ve been looking at those on QVC Georgesgran I’m a sucker for animal print. They have 2 styles in them one the same as Maws and one with a side zip. Wasn’t sure which to go for. I’m a typical Libran who can never make a decision ?

Arent they leather? They look as if they should be

Georgesgran Sat 10-Sept-22 18:31:17

Apparently the outside is man made, but leather lined.
