Dungaree Dress. Yay or Nay?

I've seen a lovely needle cord dungaree dress in midi length.
I except I'd wear it with thick tights and ankle boots?
Can they look nice on, or would it look childish?
Or should I not care hmm

I think it looks awful in the photo but it might look ok with thick tights and boots

@Sarah74

This dress looks like my old school uniform so not for me. OK on small girls but not for adults.

Just to reiterate - I don’t like this style at all!

Snowberry, I say Yay. Go for it , why on earth not ? Enjoy wearing it.

If your not sure once you get it, send it back., also if not sure on size order x2 and see what you think is best. I do that all the time.

I love my denim dungaree dress - warm with a jumper and tights in the winter; cool with a Tshirt in the summer.

Critically it has pockets that are big enough to be useful!

A needlecord one sounds great, hope you enjoy it.

caleo - you say you now need garments that bypass your waist. - I need garments that bypass my body grin

Caleo Thu 06-Oct-22 09:08:27

I like the idea of a dungaree dress, as it does not visually stop at waist level. I used to have a waist to show off but have not done so for many years and now need garments that bypass my waist.

I'd wear a dungaree dress if they were warm but I am not thinking denim for the colder weather and fuel shortage.

Unless you have a good figure you'd need a loose jumper not a clingy one under your dungaree dress.

I bought a midi denim skirt to wear in the summer with bare legs and then realised that my legs are so awful I didn't want to show them. So I am planning on wearing it with leggings, a thick jumper and my 3/4 clumpy boots. I haven't tried it all on yet but in my mind it will look ok.
I love the sound of your dungaree dress SnowberryZ so definitely go for it!! grin

I like that Sarah74, really nice ?

NotSpaghetti Wed 05-Oct-22 21:47:28

Well I think it's great BlueBelle
It has a more relaxed feel than some.

Is it this sort of thing? Not a fan myself, but why don’t you try it and see how you feel?

I greatly believe that we should wear what we want to wear, so go ahead and buy it. If it makes you feel good then ignore what others say. I hope it's lovely.

Mapleleaf Wed 05-Oct-22 18:20:33

If you would like one, can afford to buy one, then go ahead and get it. I’m sure it will look lovely on you.

BlueBelle Wed 05-Oct-22 18:19:35

Notspaghetti I don’t mind sharing at all but you won’t like it It’s one of the very very cheap Chinese sites which I just couldn’t resist it came on time, it’s a decent weight, and cost about £12 or £14 I had it last year and it washes up well (although I do everything on 30* anyway)

Kalu Wed 05-Oct-22 18:03:26

If you like it snowberry, buy it.

Fabulous dungarees BlueBelle. I would say that as I have linen ones?. Soooo comfy.

NotSpaghetti Wed 05-Oct-22 17:56:10

That's a nice shape BlueBelle - I had one like that a while ago which i wore out - it was a fabulous emerald green.

Do you mind sharing the make?

Calendargirl Wed 05-Oct-22 17:55:05

Didn’t know what dungaree dresses were, so looked up some pictures.

Yes, to me they looked like cord pinafore dresses, but I really liked them and wouldn’t mind one.

NotSpaghetti Wed 05-Oct-22 17:53:59

I'm tempted by the lucy & yak one as it has adjustable straps. The bib part on some of these dungaree dresses aren't always long enough, especially if you have a long torso.

I like these but not sure they will like me!!

Callistemon21 Wed 05-Oct-22 17:52:10

Yes, that photo!

Very stylish.
I'm not sure about a dress, it would have to hang properly.

maddyone Wed 05-Oct-22 17:51:45

Get it if you like it. For myself, I would never buy or wear dungarees or a pinafore dress, not my thing. But that’s me, and not you. Buy and wear what you like.

BlueBelle Wed 05-Oct-22 17:48:23

Thank you callistemon mine are dungarees not dungaree dresses which I haven't come across unless it’s what we used to call a pinafore dress
They are no problem at the loo maybe they are meant to wear big and baggy so you just slip the shoulders off
Here’s the photo Callistomomwas referring to I also have a beige pair which I wear a yellow thin jumper under

Callistemon21 Wed 05-Oct-22 17:07:46

BlueBelle

I ve got 2 lots of dungarees (not dresses) but the same sort of thing and I certainly haven’t a tiny bust nanna58 they are truly great and you wear them baggy anyway they are not tight across the bust line at all

I remember seeing yours, Bluebelle and yes, it looked very stylish!
