I have seen few nice Ponchos around on my travels (cannnot remember where now) hmm

But they do look handy to throw on.

They’re good for travellling too I find. Easy to pop on when you’re on a plane. Or just sitting at home watching TV.

Very comfortable, great for me as it's always my shoulders and upper arms that feel the cold most!!

I’ve got couple I think they are lovely, one mustard and one silver grey

I am deff going to buy one or some sort of wrap coat, think they look good with boots and jeggins )I'm sure they look just as good with boots and skirts but I am not a skirt person).

I'm planning to crochet a poncho, didn't realise they were back on fashion. I think we had them as children in the 60s

In the back of the airing cupboard is a crochet green and blue poncho with fringes made for me by my lovely mum back in the late 60’s when I was a student and it was all the rage. I find it a bit cold on the lower arms so haven’t worn it for years.

I also had a lovely brown wool cape with a gold sateen lining that was so useful over dresses or trousers. Loved it. Forgotten all about it. Idk what happened to it. Just wore it out I suppose.

I have a reversible, black/ camel wrap/cape that I bought from M&S years ago. It has lived at the back of the wardrobe and often I have thought of ditching it. But after reading the above posts, I may resurrect it to keep me warm in the evenings.

I love the look but I don’t own any.

Sara1954 Wed 12-Oct-22 21:49:16

I love them, have quite a few, and am always on the lookout for more

I have a lovely plush crimson one with a fake fur collar which I bought in Tavistock about four years ago and I love it and prefer it to a coat or jacket.

I bought an ikea fleece blanket for $2.99 (lap size) and made an opening for the head... saw the trick in the internet

It works like a charm

fairfraise Wed 12-Oct-22 20:00:49

I had one when I was young from Richard Shops. Brown and white striped. It was quite warm but no good in the rain!

Marydoll Wed 12-Oct-22 19:41:31

I have a few fine knit ones, they are definitely not out of fashion!

Grandmabatty Wed 12-Oct-22 19:39:45

I suspect I would look like Margaret Rutherford in a poncho. But smaller and rounder with less hair. It would not be a good idea.

Biscuitmuncher Wed 12-Oct-22 19:36:25

My very trendy very beautiful 21 year old daughter has just bought a poncho

JaneJudge Wed 12-Oct-22 19:02:35

I have quite a few

rubysong Wed 12-Oct-22 19:00:27

I have one DH brought me from Peru when he was in the Navy. It is made from alpaca wool and is very warm. I wear it when the weather us very cold.

Urmstongran Wed 12-Oct-22 18:41:31

The fashion wheel keeps turning doesn’t it?

I had a mustard coloured woollen one in the late sixties (probably went with some brown trousers ? - those were the fashionable colours back in the day). I have a soft brown knitted one from John Lewis bought 4 years ago. I keep it in Spain where the weather when chilly is at least often dry! Wet wool is no friend to anyone.

That said, pulling them up over one’s head does mess the hair somewhat!

Will take a look in T ks

MerylStreep Wed 12-Oct-22 18:29:20

Kamiso

There are lots of them in TKMax.

I have two cashmere ponchos I bought from Pure Cashmere years ago. Unfortunately this company no longer exists, bought over from a company I am not so keen on and they have hiked up the prices of all Pure Cashmere products they still sell. I also have a rabbit fur one.

I knitted one each for both GDs a few years ago and one for GD1’s dolly.

MawtheMerrier Wed 12-Oct-22 18:12:42

Disregard either the "a" or the "s" !

MawtheMerrier Wed 12-Oct-22 18:11:55

I have several pure cashmere ponchos from Turtle Doves , a company in Shrewsbury who use recycled cashmere to make ponchos, jackets, fingerless gloves, neckwarmers, beanies, wraps and scarves.
I am still trying to work out how I could be attacked and wrestled to the ground because I was wearing a ponchos confused
Not an occupational hazard IMO
