Do you wear Slips and/or Petticoats

I often wear a full slip or waist slip and camisole, especially during the winter months as they provide another layer to keep me warm and make my clothes hang better, I always wear them with thinner slightly see through skirts and dresses.
What is your opinion, do you consider them old-fashioned? do you wear slips or would you consider them? are they a sexy addition to your lingerie or just to be used as nightwear?
I would love to hear your opinions

I don’t own many dresses but the ones I do have are lined I haven’t seen any full length slips for a number of years! Personally it wouldn’t really bother me if they were old fashioned if I liked a dress that needed one I would buy one, but sexy not in a million years!

I have never understood what "hang well" means, and ever since I was a girl nearly a hundred years ago I infrequently and vaguely wondered what hang well meant.

Caleo the way a garment "hangs" is the way it "behaves" when worn - yes it's a cut and fabric thing but sometimes it's to do with having a fabric that needs some "support" or something to help it drape better. A garment may cling awkwardly to the body or it might jut out at an uncomfortable angle or runkle up. Some problems can be ameliorated by a lining or a stiffener or alternatively an underskirt or slip. If clothing skims and drapes beautifully and enhances the wearer then I'd say it hangs well.

I've just found this:

And it even mentions pettipants, dotpocka grin

Yes of course with sweater dresses and any filmy see through material as well as any dress that looks better with one.

I have full length and half length petticoats of various lengths and colour as well as camisoles.

And in winter I layer up with silk/cashmere vests which are very thin and very warm.

In winter day to day I always wear trousers etc, but going out my preference is a dress.

In summer it depends how hot it is. Dresses are much cooler in hot weather. Otherwise it is capri type trousers and tops. But a dress for going out.

I wear simple camisoles as I'm small, then I can get away with not wraring a bra!
Also I have a couple of shortish slips to wear under jumper style dresses, which stops the cling around the deriere smile

Never wear skirts or dresses now. Can anyone remember the tip of turning waist slips inside out to stop static clinging? It must be 2013 the last time I wore a dress or skirt and that was at a relatives wedding.

Oldbat1I never knew that trick. I used to wear a waist slip with the very full skirts, for modesty. It was because of nylon waist slips I began to use laundry softener to stop the electricity.

I have a black one and a white one from M&S. they are just plain cami slips. I wear them under tunics and dresses, I find they help your clothes skim your body rather than clinging to lumps and bumps so look much better. Bonus at this time of year is the extra warmth.

If I thought a slip would smooth my lumps and bumps I'd get on immediately from Ebay. I fact, I am going to do just that!

I have fine waist slips in different lengths, warmer in winter and stops dress/skirt clinging.
I love a silk scarf round my neck in winter. Wish I could afford silk underskirts too .
