Can I have some brand suggestions to look at please?

It's a formal wedding and I'm pretty round with a big bust šŸ™„
I found some nice things a few months ago following a discussion on here but my ipad has deleted my open tabs and I'd not "saved" them.
Ideas very welcome.
Thank you all!

I do have a Masai top Daisymae but they are usually too tight at the bust for me šŸ™„

I was very taken with the Shibumi clothes so sent for some fabric samples and did the ā€˜scrunch test’. I’d have looked like nothing on earth by the time I got to the event.

size 14 is a smaller than average lady. NOT a larger lady

I know! But they do go up to considerably bigger sizes.

Maw - irrespective of this event but I'm definitely going to look at Box2 linens for the summer! Thank you.

Just remembered to label for us larger ladies (14 and up) but apologies if this doesn’t apply to you, it’s Box2

Expensive, but beautiful silk dresses from this company, could be worth looking at?

What about Masai? They have designs for varying figure shapes.

Thanks J52 and woolly - I'll look into it.
I've been fairly thorough on the JL website.

Hello, I was just about to recommend John Lewis personal shopper service too! I had a brilliant helper last year when I was hunting for a wedding outfit last year. She had chosen so well, and I immediately liked one of the dresses she’d put on a rail before I arrived. I sat in one of the personal shopper rooms in John Lewis and was brought other things to go with the dress, so it was much more relaxing than traipsing around the shop.

I haven’t read the whole thread and this might have been already suggested. A friend who had a leading role in three separate weddings, went to ( had to travel, a day out) a better stocked John Lewis and used their personal shopper service.
Result: three stunning outfits.

Yes Fanny would be happy to be XL in a size 16 grin..

...some makes I found that XL was a UK 14!

NotSpaghetti Fri 17-Feb-23 17:52:15

62Granny - I'm happy to pay more than I usually would - but I did say ^no Prada*! grin

If you find a brand you think will work you can sometimes find a little-worn version or one in a sale.

Not much in my size but will ask my daughter where she uses for weddings etc.
Good idea.

It depends on what you can afford 62Granny. There’s nothing wrong in doing so if you have the money.

Would you pay £800+ for a dress honestly!! Now even as the MoB.
I quite like Roman and Klass, but was in Next yesterday and they had some lovely floaty dresses and separates ready for the " wedding season"

NS don’t you just hate it when XL is a 16 and it goes no further! šŸ™„

MawtheMerrier Fri 17-Feb-23 14:21:04

Just a thought - had you considered ā€œrentingā€ ?
If it’s good enough for Carrie Johnson…….
Why not Google m I know there are a few agencies who rent designer outfits for around three figures

Thank you though Dee

I think I may suggest Ghost to my middle daughter. Sadly I'm too fat!

Dee1012 Fri 17-Feb-23 13:28:08

Not sure if Ghost would fit the bill?

I was just thinking that you’d got a lot of wear out of your other AB outfit and you know their sizing and quality - and you certainly wouldn’t be letting the side down!
