Hiim looking for a good hand cream without too many nasty chemicals as they irritate my skin.

I use hand cream frequently throughout the day and my hands are still dry especially round my cuticles where the dry skin comes off in flakes. ok I own up to being a finger picker.

I’m wondering if using hand cream can make your hands dry as I seem to be fighting a losing battle with putting cream on and they aren’t any softer

Typo - hi. I’m looking …

E45 should help. Aveeno is also good. I like Nivea, which is lightly perfumed, but as an excema sufferer, it works for me.

I always found Neutrogena to be the best.

Weleda is the one my daughter can use.

I used to like the very thick Weleda one but only when I didn't mind spending time on rubbing it in as it's slow to absorb. I had it for years. I think it's called "Skin Food".

I ran out and bought these 2 "Lano" ones (lanolin based though). The pink one is fragranced with rose, lighter and rubs in quicker. The cream one is lanolin, honey and vitamin E so thick and not really a cream. I use it some evenings if I'm just gawping at the TV and let it work over time.

Working Hands is excellent for sore dry hands flaky hands.

Any of the above listed applied generously, then put on some cotton gloves overnight... repeat for a few nights.... works wonders..
Works on feet too!

Thanks, I’ll try some of them out. Keep em coming.
Being a finger picker the more my skin is dry and flakey the more I pick and the worse it gets

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula hand cream is very good for dry chapped hands.

The trick is to apply a lot before bedtime as it isn’t washed away.
O’Keeffe’s Working Hands is excellent.

There are a few I like, but especially Turkish olive oil cream - Dalan D'Olive is good, but Lidl from time to time sell a version which is also pretty good.

Faith in nature coconut cream.. paraben free and organic

My father was a builder, a steel fixer specifically. He would be laughed at for using Norwegian Formula on site - until he offered them a look of his hands and a squirt of the cream. They didn’t laugh again.

I’ve found Aveeno Dermexa daily emollient cream is the best hand cream for eczema and sore red hands.

I try to get it when it’s on offer as it’s a bit pricey, but the bottle is big at 200ml.

Body Shop Hemp hand protector. Nothing else works for me during the winter months. Its not cheap but so so worth it. I can get away with Atrixo in the summer which is much cheaper!

I second Body Shop hemp hand cream so good for dry hands. We helped a local Body Shop consultant buy and deliver hundreds of tubes to local hospital during Covid for the nurses. Really good.

My hands are so sensitive the skin cracks around the nails. I started using O,Keeffes working hands and the results were brilliant. My son a Master carpenter has had the same problem for years and now he uses the cream. We smother it on over night the relief is amazing.

Body shop hemp for me too. After gardening I put it on and wear a pair of woolly gloves so that it absorbs properly. You could also wear cotton gloves overnight maybe?

I found some nail oil really strengthened my nails and smoothed the cuticles too.

O’Keeffe’s Working Hands at night for me. I have very dry skin and it’s the only thing that works consistently. I use their Intensive Body Cream on my legs and Intensive Foot Cream on my feet! Told you I (used to) have dry skin!

Gloves in a bottle, I get badly chapped hands at this time of year. Not anymore. It really works.

I wonder if anyone will read this.

Yammy Sat 25-Feb-23 23:08:25

I use ameliorate cream which is really for my legs—approved by the practice nurse. Be careful with Nivea if you are allergic to lanolin as I am, some of their products have a lot in them.
Norwegian formula is another I use, thick before bed with a pair of cotton gloves on, I also do the same with my feet.

Yes, I found this in America and wouldn’t like to say how long I’ve hung on to it! It’s good stuff!

I agree, by a long way.
Neutrogena buy the non scented, its non greasy.

Tip: unless latex irritates you, get pair of gloves, lots of Neutrogena massaged in, put gloves on for 20 mins.
