Has anyone done it? Recommendations please.

I have. I had mine done by Colour Me Beautiful. I found it very helpful. There was one of their agents in the next village.

My BIL and his wife got theirs done and now wear clothes that have their colours, all at the same time! I thought about it but I know I would just continue wearing the colours I like now whatever they said!

I just do the online ones.
I know what suits me and doesn’t.
I’m an Autumn, with a neutral skin tone.

I know that NotAGran (another Autumn) is quite evangelical about it.
I’m sure that she’ll be along soon!

Getting my colours done stopped me wearing black all the time

I’ve done the quiz online a couple of times but got very different answers.
I think I’m deep winter.
I think it’s quite expensive to do Colour Me Beautiful.

I had my colours done almost 40 years ago (when I was in my late 20’s) by a friend of a friend who worked for Colour me Beautiful. I’m an Autumn. I don’t know whether I’d still be the same today, but I think I will be as my skin tone hasn’t gone sallow. At the time of the colour analysis, I was probably wearing the wrong colours, but now I try to stick to what I’m supposed to be, although I do go off-piste sometimes, colour-wise. I do find it a useful guideline though.

I had mine done quite a few years ago, a birthday present from both daughters as it’s quite expensive. Sorry I can’t remember where it was except it was in London ( we all live in the SE)

I found out my colours for clothes and makeup. I realised I’d always wore the right shades of lipstick ( no pinks, just corals and reds)

I am a warm Autumn, look on a colour wheel to understand . I wear corals, golds, green, turquoise, red , cream and navy rather than white and black, which I always realised I looked dreadful in .

I get much more compliments on what I wear since I had it done, it was very enjoyable I recommend it.

😂 Fanny I thought my ears were burning 🔥.

Yes I’m a huge advocate of House Of Colour having had my colours done 30 odd years ago. Honestly some of the best money I have ever spent and has saved me a fortune over the years.
No more expensive mistakes hanging unworn in the wardrobe.

Great for self esteem too receiving compliments. Like most women I wore black and white to work which did nothing for me, in fact draining colour from me.
I love my Autumn 🍃 🍁 🍂 colours too which helps as I know some people don’t actually like their season despite knowing they look their best.

It's a very interesting thing to do. I went to Colour Me Beautiful years ago, when there was a special offer for WI members. As soon as I walked in the lady said, 'pink!'. I was amazed as I had never had anything pink. She was right though and as soon as she began putting various coloured scarves around me I could see pink was my colour. At DS's wedding my outfit was mainly pink and I felt great.

Yes! Also a great fan of Colour Me Beautiful - highly recommend. If you just Google the name and that should (eventually) lead you to consultants near you. Good luck.

I had mine done by House of Colour more than 30 years ago. Excellent value for money. She also gave makeup advice which was really helpful. I was given a wallet which contained a swatch of colours suited to me (blue based winter) which I still have but rarely need to refer to as I am familiar with which colours best suit me. Thoroughly recommend.

Blinko Sun 09-Apr-23 20:45:42

Thank you all. I’m motivated to research a consultant near me. Looking forward to it!

Had mine done several years ago. I’m winter so bright vibrant colours which do seem to suit but as I’m not a very bright vibrant person I don’t tend to wear them often! I’m quite happy with black and grey too.

Shinamae Sun 09-Apr-23 20:59:02

I have never heard of this 🤷‍♀️

NanKate Sun 09-Apr-23 21:40:02

I’m Winter via Colour Me Beautuful and am so pleased that I was assessed years ago. Like Kitty I have stopped wearing black. Also Kitty suggested I shopped online at Kettlewell. All their clothes are lovely colours, check it out.

Georgesgran Sun 09-Apr-23 23:14:53

I’m a Winter too according to Colour Me Beautiful. Done 30+ years ago, but I still follow the basics of what colours I was recommended to wear. Never yellow or peach, which is just as well, as I don’t like either.
I seem to remember that several of us were invited to another’s house for the ‘Consultation’. I wonder if the hostess got a discount, a bit like the old Tupperware parties.

Bixiboo Sun 09-Apr-23 23:34:09

I had mine done about 25 years ago with House of Colour then about 15 years ago with Colour me Beautiful. They were quite similar, but the wallet with the swatches contained a lot more from Colour me Beautiful. Both consultants also gave make up advice which was very useful. I’ve always ordered make up online from House of Colour as once you know your season you know whatever colours you order they will always suit you.

It was very popular Shina
Perhaps you are younger - it was more common in the 80’s and 90’s.

henetha Mon 10-Apr-23 09:59:20

I've never heard of this either, and am intrigued.

FannyCornforth Mon 10-Apr-23 10:07:37

Henetha there are lots of online quizzes to get the general drift.
I did another one last night, and it said that I was a ‘soft’ Autumn.
I’m not so sure though, as the paler colours that it suggested would look dreadful on me

Thank you FC. That's a thought, - what if we do not like the colours suggested? grin

Actually, that one’s rubbish.
Don’t bother!

henetha Mon 10-Apr-23 10:16:47

I just did the first one you mentioned and apparently I am warm spring. Yippee! Sounds nice at least. smile
Oh, just read again, that one is rubbish! Never mind, it was a bit of fun. They don't seem to cater for ancient grey haired
gals, so I had to cheat a bit anyway.
