If I want to treat myself which I do every now and again. I will always buy a scarf. Never cost more than around £15, although I’ve got cashmere ones and silk ones bought for me as presents.

I too am a scarf lover and wear them all year round, I would rather accessorise with a scarf than a necklace. My daughters have inherited this habit! Due to my continuous browsing on Pinterest for alternative ways to tie a scarf, from the flimsy floaty through to chunky winter ones I have almost daily emails from them with even more ideas - and I don't mind!

I like scarves, but only wear them either to keep my neck warm, or to protect the collars of my jackets from getting dirty too quickly, or as headscarves to prevent my hair from flying about in the wind.

So I only buy scarves in charity shops, but I do have quite a lot of them.

My guilty pleasure is old dolls, and dolls' house furnishing and on two occasions dolls' houses themselves. So I am likely to be rooting through scarves in charity shops in an attempt to find suitable fabrics for sewing new clothes for the dolls.

The dolls (apart from those passed down the family) are from charity shops and jumble sales too.

If too many are dressed alike, they feel like an orphange on an outing, or a girls' boarding school rather than a family!

I used be known for my scarves when I was a student! Unfortunately, I’ve lost my sense of style nowadays, so I’ve given them up. Having a wardrobe of scarves that you love sounds like a great idea!

Does anybody wear one the way Jenni Murray does? She just drapes a flat scarf over one shoulder and it looks like a table runner!

I am currently reading her book “Fat Cow, Fat Chance” and she seems a good sort so I am waiting to hear what prompted her to wear a scarf like this. Looks daft to me.

Well I carried on reading and discovered that Jenni Murray started wearing a big scarf over one shoulder after she had a mastectomy to “balance her up”. Learn something every day!

I have a collection of beautiful scarves, which I bought, had gifted, or inherited. Regrettably I have never mastered the art of tying them attractively and more importantly, they never stay where I put them. I leave the house with them knotted or draped at a jaunty angle and within minutes they are reduced to something that looks as if it was pulled out of the rag bag.
There must be a name for the artistic draping of scarves, if there isn’t , there should be. It is a talent I do not possess, and at my age I am unlikely to. ☹️

I love my scarves, too many to count! Plain, patterned, winter, spring, summer and autumn ones. Some to keep me warm, some to just keep the chill off and some to keep the sun off. Couldn't be without my lovely scarves!!!

I love scarves - on other people! I can't bear to wear one, I hate anything round my neck and always feel like I'm choking. Even seeing other people in chokers or polo necks makes me feel that way too. I just think I'm weird.

Snap I have some pretty scarves but seldom wear them as I feel like I am being strangled. Same with any type of high neck top.

I accumulated so many scarves, but I always wore the same few. I eventually made the spare scarves into a rag rug.

Those women who keep popping up in the before and after videos could benefit from a nice scarf to buck them up!

Beau1958 Sat 22-Jul-23 13:04:16

Perfumes are my guilty pleasure I have too many to mention 🤦‍♀️

DamaskRose Sat 22-Jul-23 12:57:26

Oh yes, too many to count. Have always worn them but nowadays they hide my scrawny neck! Shawls are also having a moment in the knitting/crochet (see Stephen West) world so I’ve a few of those too!

I'm very attracted to the look of scarves and have bought many but rarely seem to get round to wearing them.
My guilty pleasure is earrings, especially from S*******i. I don't seem to be able to resist them although even though I have two piercings in each ear, it would take me a very long time to wear every pair !

Missiseff Sat 22-Jul-23 12:39:01

I have loads! Can't resist them

Bessieb Sat 22-Jul-23 12:24:45

I have a collection of lovely scarves but unfortunately, due to a medical condition, I am always hot and so I very rarely wear them now. I can't bring myself to get rid of them though.

I also admire the way Judi Dench wears a scarf over one shoulder but can anyone tell me how she keeps it from slipping off? Velcro? grin

Scarves are often the finishing touch to an outfit. They’re so lovely and can be worn in a myriad of ways.

I tend to go with the long oblong styles rather than squares. Storing them were always a jumbled problem… till…

I found the best storing method. Use plastic shower rings and thread them thru (like in the store) and clip each ring on a wooden hanger. You can color code in groups.

Saves shelf space and they hang wrinkle-free in the closet. Easy to find!

My guilty pleasure tho is SHOES❣️

Let's be honest - there are some lovely scarves out there, but one's attraction to them grows as one ages, in proportion to the number of wrinkles around one's neck!!

I rather like Molton Brown toiletries.

That’s a good user name allsortsofbags love it , so you collect bags too 🤣 I think we have a bit in common 👊

Grandma2002 Sat 22-Jul-23 11:49:39

Just watched the video and absolutely loved it - thank you PinkCosmos will keep on Favourites for inspiration. Apart from anything else it is quite soothing.

schnackie Sat 22-Jul-23 11:47:16

Very jealous of all you scarf-wearers! At 4 ft 11 in, wearing a scarf completely obliterates my chubby neck so I look ridiculous. They do look so attractive on other people. Sigh.

PamSJ1 Sat 22-Jul-23 11:46:51

My guilty pleasure (a recent one) is handbags from Mia Tui. They are great organisers and have some lovely colours

grannybuy Sat 22-Jul-23 11:45:03

Missdeke, I must be weird too then. When I see other people wearing high necks, my throat constricts.

grannybuy Sat 22-Jul-23 11:43:21

I only wear scarves outdoors, in winter, never as an accessory, so don’t need many. I’ve got about a dozen, including a few that I knitted. My guilty pleasure is buying wool!

I've loved and worn scarves all of my adult life. So many, all shapes and fabrics including wraps. No woolly knitted scarves. Most from charity shops.
Moving house last year I forced myself to fill a bag to donate to the charity shop. 46 scarves. I kept at least that number. Rolled up and secured with a rubber band they take up very little space.
