If I want to treat myself which I do every now and again. I will always buy a scarf. Never cost more than around £15, although I’ve got cashmere ones and silk ones bought for me as presents.

Love all my scarves. They're categorised generally into Summer / Winter and Evening -usually a bit sparkly. The silk ones are my favourites especially a pink and white one I bought many, many years ago and which is really falling to bits. I ignore the holes and just think of it as "vintage". I've several that I've crocheted and a couple of very large shawls as well. When I first had covid in March 2020, I seemed to seemed to be permanently swathed in a soft woolly shawl. A real comfort.

Bit like earrings, I’ve got loads of scarves but only tend to wear one or two of them.

My secret (well, not very secret actually) pleasure is plants. I can't pass the garden centre!

One of my biggest regrets was giving away a cupboard load of scarves when I left Afghanistan. After nearly 15 years working in countries where the hijab was either mandatory or highly recommended, I'd had enough of them so I gave them all to the cleaning ladies. Many were inexpensive scarves bought in various markets and bargain shops. However, there were quite a few that were made and/or hand-embroidered by students (or their mums) and I really wish now that I'd found room in my bags for these scarves. The cleaning ladies loved them all.

Remember threading a scarf through jeans loops as a belt or improvising a top out of one? Nowadays I'd need to get to the loo too quickly for the first and wouldn't care to attempt the second!

love scarves, but on the look out for pretty snoods ,where to buy?

Reading this sent me upstairs to count how many I had. I'm almost ashamed to own up to having 124, not counting wooly winter ones! I can't resist looking when in a charity shop, and I inherited about 20 when my mum died.(though I can't ever remember her wearing one). I store mine in 2 module cubes in my wardrobe. One for various colours and the other for shades of blue, which is the predominant colour of most of my clothes. Going to count them made me feel guilty as I'm sure I've never worn some of them. I look forward to the cooler days, so I can brighten up a plain t shirt or jumper.

Draw!

Drawer!

I’m referring to the second draw, the one that draws attention!

I also love scarves and I have quite a collection.

I've just counted mine. I have 13 on a scarf hanger on my bedroom door then another 11 in a drawer. These are apart from the knitted ones -4 that I wear to actually keep warm.

Love love love scarves. Keep you warm in winter, keep you safe from the sun in summer ( fine scarf draped over shoulders and arms ) and add an extra dimension to outfits. Guilty pleasure is late morning freshly brewed coffee and a small soberano!

Lots of YouTube ideas on tying scarves. Nowhere near as complicated as at first sight.

Shoes, shoes and more shoes!!

Dempie55 Sat 22-Jul-23 17:22:41

I like a scarf, love to wear a silk scarf round my throat in Winter, very comforting. I have loads, can't resist them in charity shops. I also like a home knitted scarf, probably because it's the only thing I can knit (along with bobble hats!)

My own guilty pleasure is bed linen, I love a crisp new duvet set!

I have just a few scarves, single figures, almost all silk and gifts, but only wear one with a jacket or coat in the cooler weather. And I have a lovely cashmere shawl for a cool evening. The thought of wearing a scarf indoors or when it’s not chilly gives me a hot flush!

HannahLoisLuke Sat 22-Jul-23 16:19:49

Draw!

HannahLoisLuke Sat 22-Jul-23 16:19:28

I have a drawer full of scarves too, but rarely wear them now as I’ve got the idea that they actually drawer attention to the neck area rather than the opposite.
I find myself studying the necks if ladies wearing scarves and don’t like myself for it.

Nansypansy Sat 22-Jul-23 15:38:28

My guilty secret is glass in charity shops …particularly cut glass glasses and little jugs and also thin vintage glasses specifically Marlborough pall mall …. Anyone got any they don’t want??😊

I love scarves - on other people! I can't bear to wear one, I hate anything round my neck and always feel like I'm choking. Even seeing other people in chokers or polo necks makes me feel that way too. I just think I'm weird.

If you’re weird then so am I! I hate anything round my neck. I think I was strangled or hanged in a previous life 😂

Anyone give us a lesson on how to wear a square scarf! I have loads of long scarfs and wear them regularly I like the thick cosy ones best not the thin ones who don’t do much unless they are very long.

Forestflame Sat 22-Jul-23 14:34:52

I love scarves, get most of mine from Charity shops. There is no such thing as too many scarves! My other guilty pleasure is earrings, especially long ones! We all have to have a guilty pleasure 😁

ShewhomustbeEbayed Sat 22-Jul-23 14:05:33

I like wearing 2 scarves of different colours and textures entwined together, I think this adds interest, I also love chunky necklaces !
