Linen trousers for summer

I would like to order some linen trousers now ready for summer but I would really like some that have some semblance of style and not look like a dish rag 2 minutes after I put them on. Could anyone recommend a brand that does this please I am short and prefer wide legs for summer?

I’ve had several pairs form M&S including as recently as last summer. They wash like a rag ad keep less crumpled than most I think. Mine were wide leg and I got them last year in navy and emerald green

I've always bought the M&S ones too, though you have to be quick once they come in as they sell out very quickly.
I don't iron mine, just give them a gentle wash and dry hanging up. If they're properly ironed they seem to crumple more easily.
In shops you often used to see the assistants steaming the linen clothes to get the creases out, never ironing them.

I don't like the crumpled look of linen, and haven't the time to go in to a long ironing ritual. I prefer good quality cotton with a small amount of elastine to keep them in shape.

I have just had delivered two pairs from M and S - 'Linen Blend' - Oatmeal colour and Navy - - they seem really good for the money £25.00 - not worn them yet but they have two pockets, a slim leg and the back waistband is elasticated. Sure they will be cool in warm weather but not crease as much as some I looked at which were really expensive - i.e Poetry .. Wrap ... which are pure linen and will crease the moment you sit down.!

I buy quite a few clothing bits from Kettlewell colours. They do a pair of linen trousers and the description says "Our linen styles are blended with viscose and a touch of elastane to bring extra comfort and durability and helps make the linen less prone to wrinkling" worth a look perhaps? I havent tried them myself so i can't vouch for the minimal crease thing..

Bought two pairs of wide legged cropped from M & S last year. Wore them on holiday and only creasing was at the crotch. Didn't worry me. With no iron available, I slightly dampened them, flatted out as much as possible and left to dry in the heat. They were very presentable for next wear.

I never liked linen trousers. They always looked like rags on my little legs.
I also don't like having to be constantly ironing them, I don't have room in my life for that.

I like them and wear them.
M&S are good and seem to crease less than other makes.

I don't iron them, DH does, but he dislikes seeing them creased and said he'd like to follow me round with an iron 😁

Yes, saggi, you might be a fashionista.
The properties of linen fibers is the wrinkle factor. If women know that and hate how linen looks, they should never buy anything linen. It’s a waste of their money.

As I said in earlier post - pay attention to what you are buying. You do get what you pay for. (Quality)

If you wear your linen pants to a resort, no one ever pays attention to the slight wrinkles of your wardrobe. They could care less. All you have to know is that you’re cool and breezy. Not like the hot, sweaty polyester crowd.

I never iron my linens after each wearing, don’t have to. You just hang them up take a spray bottle of water and mist. Overnight the wrinkles have disappeared.

It’s a 50-50 world on this.

Cotton?

Probably totally OT, but I actually enjoy ironing, so when a friend fell and broke her arm, I volunteered to help with hers. She presented me with a beautiful buttercup yellow linen blouse to do. It took me several goes to get it satisfactory, and when I finally returned it to her, I dropped it in the wet and muddy bush by her front door. Duh!!
She didn't ask me to iron the blouse again, but we did laugh about it!

I've never understood the linen thing. It crumples like hell, is scratchy on the skin and really isn't particularly cool. Cotton is so much better for the summer surely or am I missing something?

I've had several pairs from Kasbah. The local shop that sold them closed but I have a permanent search on Ebay and have bought a few pairs new with tags.
The waists are elasticated and the leg shape is v flattering. Loose but slightly narrow at the bottom of the legs. I'm only 5'2" and the cropped sizes fit perfectly

Try Lands End. Over the years I bought masses of stuff from them. All sizes widths colours etc. sensible prices and frequent sales and promotions. Highly recommended

Primark are the best I've had

Saggi, I appreciate that linen is meant to be crumpled, it's just that I don't like that look on me. I see others in linen and they look fine - perhaps I need to get over myself, throw caution to the wind and enjoy the linen look!

I have three pairs from Cotton Traders, they have elasticated waists and are lovely for the summer.

I avoid linen!!!! I just look like an old woman in crumpled clothes! Whereas young people carry that look very well but its no longer a look for me .

You got it in one!😁
Being older, possibly overweight, possibly short, linen not a good look.
Who wants to look like a creased paper bag?Have only seen young models on a photo shoot look good in it.

I was just going to say much the same.I used to have a linen shirt, just awful, creased scratchy and warmer to wear than my cotton ones.

I did suggest cotton when someone said the alternative to linen is sweating in polyester!

I also have a couple of light tops (years old) from M&S which are a mixture of very fine cotton and silk.
