If you like the styling then I would ignore the smirking. It doesn't say much about them, it's so immature, Feel sorry for them and enjoy your greater wisdom..

I go to a well established reputable salon that isn't cheap but as an emphasis on good quality professionally trained hairdressing.

I left my previous ones because I noticed they weren't interested in me (just an old lady) or my hair and just chatted to their mates as you say or were silent, and I'm not sure which is worse.

Now my hairdresser is a friend of the family and very discreet and we chat about all sorts of things but never other clients.

I used to work in a hairdressers and it really was an eye-opener into women!! It would have been so much nicer if the customers could have left their hair to be styled and collected later. So many of them took the opportunity to be as petty and nit-picking as possible. They all had their favourite 'girl' and moaned endlessly if she wasn't there for some reason.
I stuck at it for six months but then left and worked with children instead.

Last Friday I walked past a salon empty of customers and with only one hairdresser in it. My hair needed cutting so I decided to take a chance and have it cut there. The result was the best cut I've had in years, cost £15,and no risk of being gossiped about! This will now be my regular hairdresser.

Never come across this before.
I think the town is too small, and word would get around about them toot suite.[sp]

I dont think saying something would change them.

Personally, since they do a great job, I think I would put up with it.

I used to go to one where every client was talked about after they left, they would have spoken about me as well but I liked the way my hair was cut.

You have called them bitchy, they may say something about you , to me it really doesn’t matter.

Mine are the opposite: kind, friendly, welcoming, but... I wasn't happy with the cut and colour I had recently for an important event, and there wasn't time to do anything about it.
So... 🤷

My salon is really good and provide an excellent service with beautifully groomed hair BUT the hairdressers are a ‘bitchy’ lot and smirk at clients behind their back .. myself included. Should I
say something or just keep schtum and accept that’s part of who they are?!
