House clothes

Do you wear separate clothes indoors to outdoors? I still don’t but really want to do this.
I want to get myself some joggers and tee shirts just for the house, but it seems I’m always on the go still here and there and always in the same outfits that I start the day in. Which as the evening comes are generally getting uncomfortable.

Soft cotton lounge pants & loose fitting hooded top- ping the bra off after tea ( heave it off more like, can’t stand it digging into my gall bladder 😩 but will look into getting a couple of soft, supportive bras, if anyone has any ideas where to purchase them size 42 dd

I get dressed up to go out, even when shopping, and change into my comfies when I get home but the first thing I do is take off my underwired bra and put on my comfy stretch one.

Oh that’s a good idea, soft bras (like gym bras, only more comfortable) where do you buy yours? Most get a couple to try.

I shower every morning and dress smart but casually, if I’m going out for lunch maybe make more effort make up wise. Once home in the evening I’ll relax in comfy clothes x

It's joggers and t shirts for me too when at home. I dress smarter when going out shopping or to one of my social groups, but change once back home into my comfort clothes 😊

Sunglo that’s brilliant!

Having spoiled several decent items with bleach or similar, I took to changing into old, worn stuff when I did housework. That has gradually become black joggers and an oversized black T shirt - it doesn't look too scruffy, and is now my housework and gardening wear - I have several sets. So comfortable. I like to go out looking smart and co ordinated, but once home, on goes the casual wear.

Jaxjacky . I only have one pair of pjs too . I do have 2 dressing gowns, a fleecy one for winter and a cotton waffle one for summer . But I’m not in them for long . I hate slobbing around in my dressing gown, unless I’m ill.

Jaxjacky Tue 21-May-24 20:23:18

I only own one pair of emergency pyjamas and a rarely used dressing gown.

My clothing since covid consist of pyjamas and non pyjamas. On the rare occasion that I do go out I have to do a double check that I’m still not wearing pyjamas. The only difference being that I swap pyjamas for leggings. The top bit pretty much remains the same confused.

If any one is thinking of buying a g plan reclining sofa. Please don’t. We’ve had nothing but trouble with an awful clunk when the recliner is used . Had no help from g plan. Now out of warranty we’re snookered. Just beware !

DH has a G plan reclining chair.
Just asked him to recline - it gives a faint whine but no clunk.

I'd contact the store where you bought it, Teel.

Ps this is a thread about clothes!

I have just come back from a hospital appointment. I usually take the opportunity of putting something nice on even if it is only a medical appointment, ( I should get out more smile ) but home now back in comfy clothes. Later pjs and d.gown.

Goldieoldie15 Tue 21-May-24 18:16:33

I always changed my clothes when get back home after being out. Would never feel really comfortable at home with same clothes on

JaneJudge Tue 21-May-24 18:11:09

I have work clothes, house clothes, smart casual clothes and smart clothes and slobbing clothes

HeavenLeigh Tue 21-May-24 18:09:31

I keep the same clothes on from morning till around 8pm pjs go on. Obv if I’m gardening then I be in gardening clothes and if had to go out I’d be more dressed up. The clothes I buy are comfy clothes anyway so wether I’m in or out they look presentable

AuntyTrouble Tue 21-May-24 17:20:18

I go out and then put my pj’s on when I get home!! Comfy, warm, looks ok if you need to answer the door!! 😊😊

I wear all my clothes all the time due to childhood bad memories of saving clothes for best that were never worn . So may well do housework in a long skirt as go to a concert in jeggings .

Sarahr Tue 21-May-24 16:02:50

I have my going for a walk clothes, gardening clothes and cycling clothes. I wear comfortable casual clothes at home and change if we are going out. My husband laughs at me for always changing but I won't go out in my indoors clothes and I like to keep my "going out" clothes in as good condition as I can. I really don't like shopping for clothes nowadays as there is so much poor quality clothing out there, so prefer to look after my good outfits. No point cleaning the toilet wearing a posh frock.

grannybuy Tue 21-May-24 15:21:54

Yes, I have house clothes. I don’t buy them, they’re ‘ past their best ‘ trousers and tops. I put them on first thing if I’m not going anywhere. I always change into smarter clothes for going out, then change back to the old and comfortable when I get home.

grandtanteJE65 Tue 21-May-24 14:09:01

In cold weather I change into jeans before going shopping.

I never wear jeans in the house, always skirts, usually without socks or tights as I keep the house warm in order to be able to move at all in winter.

In the lovely warm weather we are having right now, I wear one layer of thin clothes - my oldest, as I am painting window frames and obviously change before going out.

nanna8 Tue 21-May-24 13:55:27

I change when I get home if I have been out for lunch and worn something other than the usual day to day stuff because we’ve got pussycats who like to snuggle up and shed hairs on me. If I am going in the garden to work I wear trackie pants or shorts and boots and a lot of fly spray because I get bitten.

MissAdventure Tue 21-May-24 13:49:41

Extra washing is what I meant.

MissAdventure Tue 21-May-24 13:47:58

I wear what I put on in the morning until I get ready for bed.

I dont want extra waking, or not dirty buy not quite clean clothes hanging around the place.

silverlining48 Tue 21-May-24 13:28:44

house clothes? 👍 yes always change into house clothes when I come home. Much more comfortable.
Then relegated to garden clothes, or cut up if suitable for cleaning cloths in garden or garage.
Or direct to charity shop.
Nothing wasted.

harrigran Tue 21-May-24 13:28:28

I wear leggings and joggers in the house but dress more formally when I go out. I dress according to the venue I am attending.
