lovetopaint Your post made me laugh. Maybe you could find a dressmaker who could make something for you. I agree that a lot of dresses in the shops are far too long and flouncy. Better to spend more on a couple of well-made classic pieces. I too struggle to find clothes I really like now I’m old. Shops seem to cater more for young people as I suppose they spend more.

I need to be ten years younger and then my non existent long lost waist will appear. I’ve shrunk and that’s where it has gone. Meanwhile I look with despair at the dresses in shops which all appear to land on my ankles, the necklines are often heading to my navel, the material feels cheap and the designs remind me of a longer version of dresses in the forties. I’m fed up so eat more coffee ice cream to cheer myself up which doesn’t help. I’m nearly 83 and weigh 10 stone (before breakfast).🤔

Take heart OP, it’s not been as hot as last summer yet!

On the other hand, I sometimes rediscover clothes I liked 2 years ago, rejected last year and find I like them again this year!

It’s not been warm enough for summer clothes here. I’m looking forward to wearing my lovely dresses soon.

Tell me why do my summer clothes seem wrong this year?
I loved wearing them last year but it's not what I want to wear now.
I don't want to buy new stuff so I'll have to be incentive.
Any ideas?
