Tired of trainers!

Never thought I’d hear myself say that . I have I don’t know how many in every possible colour - silver, white, cream, navy, pale blue, red etc etc etc and I live in them - apart from in deepest Winter when I wear boots.
I’m not sure I can wear shoes any more but think longingly of the loafers with block heels I used to have, or wedges. I have wide feet (EE) and have had knee probs so trainers made sense but I just have a hankering for something a little smarter while still smart casual.
Any suggestions? Or do I just “suck it up”:?
There are some gorgeous smart trainers out there eg Solebliss, but at a price and over £100 for trainers is a bit hard to swallow!

very disappointed in my two pairs of Hotter shoes, one pair suede lace up are so heavy I can't wear them for more than a couple if hours, the others with a Cuban heel I am giving to the charity shop as I can't walk in them as I keep going over on my ankles.bneed some supportive slippers, the ones I've bought from m and s don't support.

Hotter have been bought out, not the same now

Hottter's styling leaves a lot to be desired these days. I've been a customer for probably 20 years and used to find they offered reasonably trendy (non- granny)styles even for my wide feet. These days the nicer styles are invariably "standard fitting" and the wider fit goes with trainers and "granny" shoes.
Still looking!

Try Hotter?

Davida1968 Wed 11-Sept-24 11:05:32

Like BigBopper I'm a fan of Hotter shoes. They have a sale on at the moment. I have large, wide, feet and I need good support. (Both my physiotherapist and my chiropodist agreed that Hotter make good supportive shoes.) They do several widths.
I was never a fan of buying shoes online, but now I'm sure of the size I feel confident about ordering my shoes from Hotter. (I have no connection with the company other than being a customer!) DH likes their shoes, too.

There is some gorgeous footwear on Sole Bliss site but can be nearly £200 a pair. They specialise in shoes and trainers for wide feet and bunions, neither of which I have.

Yes, Grannybuy I agree. Ecco shoes are the most comfortable I’ve ever worn.

grannybuy Tue 10-Sept-24 16:07:03

Ecco shoes are very comfortable.

Rieker and Pavers.

Borrheid55 Tue 10-Sept-24 13:27:11

I have Pavers soft trainers for wearing with jeans. I would love something similar but without a white sole! Can’t find them anywhere. I have dressy black Cosyfeet shoes for some outfits. I have been looking for navy soft shoes without a white sole for ages. I’ve also been searching for opaque navy knee highs - every stockist now has only black or nude! And they say there is no demand!

I mostly buy Hotter (in the sales of course). I used to buy other makes but usually they were 7's, I'm really a 6 and 1/2 and Hotter are mostly comfortable though I did buy a pair of 7's as the half size wasn't any good. Actually took me a while to click that they were actually a style that was narrow, silly me. I do like trainers and my last purchase was silver, get me down with the kids 😂. I do have 'proper shoes' that can come out for weddings or when I want to feel a little smarter. Hotter again.

Try whatever make of shoe you used to wear before all those trainers, or at least a similar style.

Jaxjacky

Sorry, but those Docs remind me of my school shoes, the indoor sandals.
I’ll stick with my trainers and ankle boots, comfortable and not expensive.

They do remind me of my Clarks brown sandals when I was 10 which I absolutely hated but I like these 😅

Try the 'Sports Shoes Direct' site, - they are based in Bradford in W.Yorks.

My granddaughter told me exactly what you've said - and then proceeded to help me colour the ugly orange away. Nice comfortable shoes!

JamesandJon33 Mon 09-Sept-24 18:28:07

Norah That’s sacrilege colouring the yellow stitching black. They are DMs!!!!

Casdon Mon 09-Sept-24 17:47:53

If you’ve got awkward feet I’d recommend Calla. They aren’t cheap, but they are so comfortable, and they do a few loafer styles, including a beautiful velvet pair. You do your own shoe fit to make sure the size is right, and they have a good helpline. I’ve got a bunion on one foot, and they are the best I’ve found.

I love the Hotter shoes with the Mary Jane strap and the 2 ins kitten heel. they look lovely with smart trousers. They are also leather and very comfortable. For summer I have been wearing the low wedge Espadrille shoes, sandals or trainers.

Now it is coming into boot weather I wear the Hotter ankle boots with side zip and 2 ins heel.

I love Moshulu!

seadragon Mon 09-Sept-24 16:47:41

lixy

I find Josef Seibel and Rohde both make shoes that give good support. They have some interesting colours available too. I usually buy in the sales!

Me too lixy. Have also recently purchased Moshulu with considerable satisfaction...lovely colours!

Norah

I bought these recently. I coloured the orange stitching black. Soles are darker than shown, or dirt helped grin

Perhaps, as I live in the country, these are not city casual and only suit my life.

What make are they, please Norah?

DocMartens

Thanks

Did they need 'breaking in'?
I ask because one of my DC had Doc Martens years ago and they needed breaking in.

BlueBelle Mon 09-Sept-24 16:34:16

I love my trainers and could live in them for ever I m so glad they came into fashion

Soles are grippy too.
