If they stopped making lipstick....

How long would your supply last? Just a silly post for fun.

I recently bought a new lipstick in a brick red for fall, and as I put it in my drawer I felt a bit guilty at the amount I have. I counted 16 lipstick or tinted balm ranging from corals to berry colours, tending to replace my favourite Clinique Almost Lipstick twice a year, but many of the others are almost untouched.

So if I actually used all my lipsticks I could last 8 -10 years.

Jaxjacky

I’d be fine as I don’t own any, a little Vaseline in the cold weather, that’s it.

Yes, Jaxjacky, I look like a muppet in all the lipstick shades alas!
Lip gloss is okay though, it must be because I have an overbite & lips like Mick Jagger. 😳

Sorry - guessed your name then got it completely wrong!

‘Lipcote’ is your friend Awthres. Apply lipstick generously, blot gently on tissue, brush on some Lipcote, allow to dry two minutes and then apply lip gloss for shine (I do) or not if you like a matte finish. 💋

I always wear lipstick but it doesn't last 5 minutes yet people around seem to keep it on for ages. Are there any tips for making it stay on? My lips are very narrow so perhaps that's something to do with it

I don’t wear makeup

Esmay Wed 23-Oct-24 10:18:39

I look extremely washed out without make up.
I've bought lots of them mainly from Avon ,which I find disappointing I got carried away as they were on offer .
Revlon , which are far better .
I used to wear Estee Lauder and a particular colour -Terracotta Tile -never been able to replace it .
I also like Clinique .

I don't often wear lipstick these days. But I did buy a pack of five Doll lipsticks a few months ago, and a Boots one for best,
sort of. They would probably last me the rest of my days.
I think I will start wearing them more, - it's a pity to waste them
confused

Perfume here every day too - 3 or 4 bottles lasts a year.

Since I retired I wear much less makeup than I used to do. I wore makeup every day for work without fail. Now I don’t wear makeup for indoors, although I always cleanse and put moisturiser on. In fact, if my only outing is to the supermarket, I don’t even bother for that. I always wear makeup to go anywhere else though, it makes me feel better.
Actually, that’s not totally correct, I didn’t bother when going to the pharmacy for my Covid vaccine or the surgery for my flu vaccine.

I look like an unattractive ghost without tinted moisturiser blusher and pinky brown lipstick, think I have 4-5 lipsticks.

Have never thought of using scent every day, what a nice idea, thanks GG13 I’ll give it a try

I am down to my last one, as the shad I use has been discontinued and I am waiting to see the new shades any time now.

Mascara, lippy and perfume whether I am going out or staying in. I started towards the end of lock down to lift my spirits. Before that it was always only perfume indoors unless going out then it was mascara and lippy also.

lixy Wed 23-Oct-24 09:20:54

No lipstick here either, though I do use a tinted lip balm sometimes. I usually use a sunscreen lip balm and use a couple of those a year.
On the other hand GD1 has enough lipstick and nail varnish to last the whole family for the rest of the century I think!

M0nica Wed 23-Oct-24 09:12:14

I wouldn't notice. I rarely wear lipstick, I eat it off too fast. The two lipsticks I have, and which I have had for years are probably good for the next 20.

DanniRae Wed 23-Oct-24 08:44:00

I have no lipstick because I never wear it. I have tried through the years to get one that suited me but I never found one. I wear no makeup at all now just some moisturiser .... if I remember!

maddyfour Tue 22-Oct-24 23:40:03

I have too many. I don’t think I’ll ever need to buy another one.
But I do get tempted, and have to force myself not to buy.

crazyH Tue 22-Oct-24 23:34:41

Strangely enough, I don’t use make-up (foundation), but I must have lipstick. It sort of lifts my face. So I have about a dozen, dotted around - all different shades of red/brown

twiglet77 Tue 22-Oct-24 23:33:49

I have one lipstick, Beauty Without Cruelty, bought in 1982. It’ll last a good while yet!

Kate1949 Tue 22-Oct-24 23:16:23

I've got loads. Avon, Revlon, even Poundland ones which are great. As are their nail varnishes.

Maggiemaybe Tue 22-Oct-24 22:27:21

Well I certainly won’t need to buy any ever again. I’ve ten or twelve dotted round in various drawers and bags and in the glove compartment. And four times as many nail varnishes - I used to wear it all the time when I was working, now rarely bother. Standards have definitely slipped. smile

Jaxjacky Tue 22-Oct-24 22:09:41

I’d be fine as I don’t own any, a little Vaseline in the cold weather, that’s it.

Astitchintime Tue 22-Oct-24 21:27:19

I don't ever wear lipstick - never liked it and it certainly doesn't suit me

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 22-Oct-24 21:18:27

Years. I down to about ten lipsticks now.

Grunty Tue 22-Oct-24 21:16:04

I've got 5 lipsticks, all similar colours, all pretty much unused and all well over 15 years old. Can't remember the last time I used lipstick, but I do use tinted lip balm, of which I have just the one that I use constantly until it needs replacing. I ought to chuck the lipsticks out really!

merlotgran Tue 22-Oct-24 21:15:32

I can’t remember when I bought the two I have it was so long ago.

GrannyIvy Tue 22-Oct-24 21:15:21

I wear lipstick daily but none stay on for very long. I use Clinique, Dior or Clarins but I must just lick my lips too often ….
