Hi
I have not been to well recently, my skin is dry mature and pigmentations.
My make up always looks dry and settles into wrinkles,
Can anyone suggest what I can use to get good coverage, and my glow back.
Don’t want to spend a fortune,
Hope someone can help
Many thanks
Junie

Hi Junie ,
I've written out my gentle exfoliating mix ture before , but here it is again :
One scant handful of porridge oats , a little lemon juice and any oil - olive is good .
Rub into your face and neck in circles .
Rinse off well with warm water .
This is going to remove old ageing skin cells .
I use it about once a week and less if my skin is dry .
Pat dry gently .
Now massage in almond oil or cream .
I usually use Nivea or whatever is at hand .
Let it settle .
Then , apply some factor 50 suncream .
Let it settle .
At the moment : I'm using Lisa Armstrong's face base .
Now not available from Avon , but on ebay .
Most face bases are OK .
I often use Avon sometimes Maybelline .
The trick is to choose the right shade and not too much .
If you have trouble choosing ask an assistant to help you .
Choose one with similar colouring to yourself .
I found the girls in Superdrug very helpful .
If you choose a face base , which is the wrong base dark shadows under your eyes will be emphasised .
All make up is either yellow or blue based .
I look terrible in blue based make up and like Dracula's mother if I apply a blue based red lipstick .
Now using a big brush apply some blusher to your cheeks -always brush off the excess on the back of your hand before applying .
Let your make up settle .
Then , prior to going out tissue off the excess .
Drink as much fluids as possible .
Take a vitamin E supplement .
Please - don't forget some lipstick .
If you don't like it - apply a little and remove the excess with a cotton bud or mix it with a little lipsalve .
And smile !

There’s a good Avon foundation you can buy on Amazon but can’t remember it’s name, maybe True Colour? Comes in a small bottle.

I started using Simple Radiance Booster serum after recommendations on here about 2 years ago now. It’s about £5 in chemists. Worn under Phoera foundation it makes my skin glow and I’ve been complemented many times.

The foundation can be bought on eBay for about £7.

I like L'Oreal Age Perfect Rosy fortifying day cream. About £10 I think, but a bit cheaper in some places. It's pink.

I recommend high dose fish oils..

and regular defoliating with a skin mask once a week.
always use a moisturiser ,then a primer and finally your foundation. I use Bare Minerals complexion rescue which has a SPF 30 in it.. good luck

If you use a hydrating primer under your foundation, it will make all the difference. You can get cheap ones from Revolution which work well

Ive started using a primer under my foundation and I’ve had loads of compliments that my face looks glowing and dewy . It’s ELF from Superdrug and not expensive. I also mix a blob of highlighter into my foundation which makes it look glowing. I can’t remember the make but it too wasn’t expensive. I think I got it in Sainsbury’s.
The other thing is to hydrate your skin , I use a vitamin c serum in the mornings under my moisturiser. And a serum with Retinol in the evening. And drink loads of water .

Hi Tenko
What retinol do you use?
Thanks

I don't know how old you are but some of these YouTube channels may help - all mature ladies, some UK and some USA. They look like the rest of us without their makeup, but I've learnt a couple of tricks from them to make me look a little more alive 😃

As my skin has aged I've found using a lighter weight foundation is better than using one that gives the best coverage. If I then cover up any noticeable blemishes with a heavier foundation in the same colour I get the best of both worlds. I also use a brush to apply foundation which is much better than fingers or a sponge but use as little as I can. I use a primer which helps minimise bigger pores and always cleanse and apply an AHA product before going to bed. I think Boots no7 products are good value if you don't want to spend too much otherwise I'm a bit of a Clarin's fan which is a lot more expensive but seems to last ages.
