Organic cotton & wool clothing not made in China or India?

What are some clothing brands that carry
100% organic cotton, wool, cashmere or linen that are not made in China, India etc. Would especially love to see Europe, UK, North America, Australia options.

I would love to compile a list we can reference.

So far I found Turtle Dove England, Na-kd (though many products contain elastin). I find Beaumont and Sahara were much too expensive though.

I recently moved to UK and I came across this site through a forum talking about how woolovers products are made in China. So many people on here knew about all sorts of brands.

It will be expensive if it meets your criteria.

Celtic&Co are a good bet, they do a lot of organic cotton, made in UK or EU. I haven’t heard of organic wool, but they do wool garments also made in UK or EU.

Look at Community clothing which is run by Patrick Grant (judge on Sewing Bee). All garments made in the UK and produced ethically

I haven’t tried these but they are made in Scotland of locally sourced wool

I am sure there are English and Welsh producers too 🙂

I think I've posted about this before but at a recent protest in our city about human rights in China a friend of mine asked whatever could she do. A young Chinese man said to her the only thing she could do is stop buying from China. Very difficult obviously and it is an effort to find out where things are made but we should all try.

The pure wool cardigans I recently bought from Zara are made in Cambodia.. not organic

Great suggestions. I have come across another called Dilling. They say the cotton is grown in India and then sent to various countries in Europe for finishing.

Pachamama and Culture Vulture sell fair trade woollen goods hand knitted in Napal.

Bella di Notte may be worth a try. They sell a good range of clothing, including night/underwear made from cotton, merino and silk. All made in the UK, Italy and Portugal. Based in Yorkshire and free pp as well.

It's depressing trying to find anything not made in China now.
I've been searching for toiletries for DGD and most are made in China.

Try Faith in Nature Allira. They are made in the UK, an ethical company, and sold in Holland and Barrett. My vegan niece swears by them, and they smell lovely.

We had a health food shop here which sold Faith in Nature products but it closed down ages ago.

Thanks for the reminder.
DD bought me some Somerset Lavender products last year, lovely, but I'm not sure a 13 year old wants to smell of lavender!

Scottish Fine soaps are lovely too.

Look at Carr & Westley. Outerwear and nightwear.
Not all natural fabrics but also wool and cotton items.
Made in Kent, England.

I love Arran Aromatics is a soap company based on the Isle of Arran that uses locally sourced products. My 9 year old GDG loves the after the rain products.

eddiecat78 Mon 16-Dec-24 15:17:47

Be wary of anything saying "Designed in the UK" - they often aren't actually made here. If in doubt, ask

Another Scottish based herbal company is Caurnie Soap company which makes products using local herbal ingredients which are great if anyone suffers from eczema/ sensitive skin. Their website is caurnie.com/

Sheep Inc sell pure wool sweaters made in Portugal from wool sourced in New Zealand. They’re not cheap but are of excellent quality and last very well.

I was just about to mention Bella Di Notte too. I think their t shirts and such as are made in Portugal.

The Torygraph has an article today about such clothing. I haven’t checked them out myself, though!
