Wedding - what can I wear instead of a fascinator or hat?

Why does the MOTB has to wear a hat? Who says? It is the bride and groom's special day so who cares?

If, like me, you hate wearing hats, all that will happen is that you will feel silly. A fascinator will make you feel sillier still.
I know, I tried it, I was persuaded, against my better judgement, to wear some stupid concoction on my head as MOTB. I took it off and left it on a seat at the earliest opportunity and someone sat on it.grin

I wish I had done what RosieandherMaw suggested.

Sea Salt do handybands which might match their dress. Personally I think a hat might be better. Why not try some on and see what you think?

I would definitely go with a hat or fascinator of some kind. I wore a 'hatinator' when I was MOTG, but chose a fascinator for my daughter's wedding last year, as it was in Corfu and a hat would have been too hot.

You might look out of place without a hat, especially if the MotB is wearing one. They’re not all huge. A pillbox style (like Jackie Kennedy wore) can look very stylish with shoulder length hair.

Nothing - just have a beautiful haircut and blow dry so that it looks stunning.

True, but then you look like any other guest.

If you are MOTB or MOTG it’s nice to look special.

I always thought the mother of the groom wore a huge hat - but not as huge as that worn by the mother of the bride!

A padded hairband?

I’m not a hat person at all but, when my daughter got married she persuaded me to get an appointment with a local lady who hired out hats. I ended up wearing a much larger hat than I would ever have chosen for myself, felt like a million dollars and got lots of compliments. It was a designer hat, expensive to hire but worth every penny.

A tiara? grin

My son is getting married in August. I have already got my dress from Sea Salt. It is teal and olive green.

I am not a hat person but feel like maybe I should wear something on my head. I am not keen on fascinators. I have seen some nice hairclips but worried they might look a bit to girly on a 67 year old grin

My hair is a shoulder length layered bob. I never wear my hair up.

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.
