Hi all. I've seen a lot about the Laura Geller makeup but I don't know anybody who uses it. There's a special offer on the starter kit at the moment, £45 from £90 plus postage. Given I have never had any success with foundation of any type, I'm thinking why bother, it can't be a miracle thing that doesn't look false (though 'they' say it doesn't and it's good for mature skin). I think I'm cynical also because every single thing I've bought online from an FB advert has been a duffer, from a super stretchy bra (like a tourniquet) to a white foundation that mimics your natural skin tone (nothing of the sort just another pore filler). So, I'd love to know if anybody can recommend it. Thank you!

Im 66 too and started using the baked foundation in ‘fair’, a primer, blusher and mascara.
Its easy to apply, light but you can add extra layers if you wish. Its quite natural looking and you dont feel slathered in a thick covering as you sometimes do with liquid foundation.
I think that technique of application is more relevant to a good result than the price of the products.
I bought the Laura Geller powder foundation and brush and am very disappointed. Difficult to load on to brush, looks obvious on skin and fails to cover blemishes. The JML powder bought in Asda for quarter of price is much more effective.
I too am an advocate for Laura Geller! At 66 I use it everyday - quick to apply with a good brush, light to wear and gives me a healthy look with the bronzer ! I’d recommend!
I'm another Laura Geller fan I use the baked one. Had to try 3 different shades before getting a general day one. So have a medium (for me thats a tan!) a fair one for everyday and porcelain for non summer use
It goes on easy in minutes with a decent size stubby brush.
I have the Laura Geller stuff, and it does look good, but I find it looks a bit too powdered on my skin after a while. I’m now using Rimmel London Radiance Brick, it’s a fiver from Amazon and I find it’s great for giving you a quick sun-kissed glow! 😊
.
Hints given me by a VERY famous make-up artist re foundation ...
#ALWAYS put it on with a warm damp make-up brush.
(My foundation which I've used for decades is fabulous - Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals. Expensive, but I use it every day (with occasional touchups) and it lasts just over 3-months. But the administering works the same with any foundation)
# put an amount about the size of a garden pea on the back of the thumb and mix using a brush that's been wettened with hot water then lightly dab it on a piece of loo paper to get rid of any excess water.
# then dip the brush in the foundation and put a stripe on each cheek and then another stripe (so creating a X); ditto across the forehead, across closed eyes, and down nose. Then blend it into the skin with circular motions.
Sounds a lot but takes just two or three minutes maximum. Skin as smooth as can be. No lines or blotches. I never wear powder on top.
If I'm going out I use a touch of YSL Touche Eclat under the eyes to help conceal the bags!

I started used LG baked glow foundation about 6 months ago and love it. I've had quite a few comments about how healthy my skin looks. My skin is normal to dry if I don't moisturise well. I just started off buying the baked foundation and brush. I still use my own blusher. Maybe try foundation and brush first. They are usually on offer on the LG website
Love Laura Geller makeup especially her bronzer and her lipstick
I love the balance n brighten and the balance n glow baked powders. Quick and easy and plenty of coverage for my 72 year old skin. As someone else suggested, buy it off QVC - you will see demos of how products are applied and if you dont like them for whatever reason simply return. Used or otherwise.
This article may help? (Estee Lauder gets a mention) >>> https:// www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/ beauty/makeup/a30222727/makeup-for-older-women/
I use Estee Lauder Double Face Foundation ,,its brilliant .. for older skin and age spots !
There is a Laura Geller Today’s Special Value coming up on the 11 th September on QVC
I recently bought one of the starter kits to try. I gave away the lipstick as it wasn't my colour and quite drying.
The balance and brighten foundation is ok if you want really light coverage. It doesn't mask my red cheeks unfortunately but it doesn't accentuate pores either. It has quite a sheen and so I would only use it in the evening. The company say you can build up the coverage but then it does look rather powdery.
The blusher and highlighter are also ok but again they are very light. The primer provides a nice base and it all came with a good make up brush. I think it will last a long time.
I have used Laura Geller for a long time now. I am late 60's and I find foundation to be too clogging and shows up my lines. QVC frequently show Laura Geller and give tips on how to apply etc., I find their Balance and Brighten is great over moisturiser. If you buy from QVC you can try it at home and return it within 30 days if it doesn't suit you. Tip. Buy the brush as well, it is very useful.
Poodlemom
QVC sell this - and you can return it if you don't like it. No quibble, even when used. I'd try it via them so you don't waste your money (only the return postage). Personally, it doesn't do anything for me. I like a light foundation but this doesn't provide enough coverage.
Makes me wonder what they do with the returned used items!!!

I have Laura Geller but not convinced I have the right colour for my skin.
Just a word of warning though - don’t drop it on a tiled floor like I did!
I have Laura Gellers products for a long time . The balance and brighten foundation is great . You don’t need a lot of it to give you a good coverage.I would go down in the colour though . You can get some good deals on Laura Geller on QVC
I’m 74 and use the baked foundations, I have it in a few colours to suit my skin as it changes through the seasons. It doesn’t look heavy and doesn’t accentuate the wrinkles.
Her concealer is excellent too.
A few months ago a Gransnet member suggested using L Oreal BB cream. Which was about a quarter of the price of the expensive foundation I used. It comes in very light, light, medium, dark. It is so much better than the expensive base and I use it all the time. It takes two or three minutes to sink in.
You can mix the colours together to get your right shade. It comes out as a white cream but changes colour on your skin.
This brand always looks tempting but I have to go to the
cheap-side as I have a needy, older mutt, whose tablets don't come cheap! Anyway he loves me just as I am, crow's feet un-all.🐾
I have been using it for a while now and I am very pleased with the results.
