Hair Loss, looking for advice on cover-ups

I'm on HRT, including testosterone, and also medication for an underactive thyroid. My thyroid medication was reduced last year, since then I have had male pattern baldness, particularly at the front. Recent blood tests show that my TSH is right at the bottom of the normal range. I'm seeing my GP on Monday to discuss the whole hormone/hair loss situation, but any change will take months, years perhaps to resolve. I do use Regaine, but I'm fighting a losing battle here!
I'm looking for suggestions to cover this up in the meantime. I use hair fibres, but am thinking about extensions. I don't want a wig or a topper, and I'm wondering what other people might have tried. What hair I have at the front is fine and wispy so I don't want to damage it Has anyone tried any cover-ups? I should also say, I could manage an upfront cost, but not a high maintenance cost.

Let's face it, hair loss is horrible. Mine went about 16 years ago. It's been a nightmare. I lost all my teeth aged 11 (with apologies to those who have heard this tale many times). To say it's been hard is an understatement. I wish anyone with hair loss the best of luck.

I have at last resorted to a wig and wish I’d done it years ago. All the faffing to get the bald spots covered , walk out the door and a windy day like today I look totally bald from the front. Now it’s a quick shake of the wig which is a short crop and a whizz through with my fingers and I’m out the door. It stays on with wig tape front and back and has never budged. Extensions are good if you have thinning all over your head but mine was just the front and up the sides above my ears so didn’t work. Have a look at the Alopecia UK website and especially the forum, there are so many lovely ladies on there who give such good advice. Good luck with your journey.

I have some hair thinning on top, also I have Psoriasis on my
scalp and neck. My Dr has given me Betnovate to put on overnight for a week. The thing is I think it is too strong -
if I want to lose a lot more hair I would go ahead, but I want to try T Gel Shampoo 2 or 3 times a week. I tried Betnovate apx
30 years ago and it disagreed with me. Any other suggestions?

My hair has thinned very badly over the past couple of years so like KathrynP I have resorted to wigs. I have several in varying lengths and shades of blonde and now have fabulous luxuriant ‘hair’. If you buy a wig from a bona-fide wig manufacturer/retailer there is a huge choice of styles and colours and they look very natural. I love the fact that I no longer have to fuss and faff with my pathetic hair and can look great with virtually no effort.

I’ve got a couple of wigs but they make me itch terribly. And in summer they’re too hot. The hair is quite thick, too, and I’d like to find a wig that doesn’t look like glorious luxuriant locks but thinnish hair like my hair used to be. I’m using Nizoral shampoo at the moment although I also use T Gel. I use Regaine mousse which does make my hair look thicker.
