Short bodies, long arms?

They look ridiculous don’t they, and not at all practical. Turning up the cuffs will stretch the sleeves widthways (plus they never stay put), and will, more often than not, hide the pattern detail at the bottom of the sleeve if it has such detail (as in the green one posted above).
I’ve noticed this trend of overlong sleeves for the last few years. They just look scruffy, in my view.
Overlong sleeves just get in the way and are very annoying.

Manufacturers have always taken it for granted that the wider a woman is then the taller - much taller - she must be. Tights are a perfect example of this.

The green jumper?
That was Cat Burns. A singer.

Time for bed.

And I can't spell warm. Worn 😆

A warm but wron jumper.

Btw - who was that wearing a jumper with frayed sleeves and bottom on Traitors tonight?

DH said "Well, I don't suppose you'd take your best clothes with you to something like that".
😁
I said "It's supposed to be like that, dear".
But why?

Bump!

I've managed to cast on so far.
A long way to go.

I find short boxy clothes are a comfortable fit aat the waist, the way I wear dropped waist or hipster trousers because in my case they are a comfortable fit around the waist.

I don’t like short, boxy jumpers either. I like my lower back to be well covered because even a small gust of cold air will give me back pain which can last for days.My granddaughters look great in them though.

Anyone who likes extra long sleeved jumpers clearly doesn’t have to do the washing up! 😂

Oh definitely!
I have a couple of cotton jumpers without cuffs and they always slide down again into the washing up water 😁

Sorry, skirts, not skits.

many sleeves seem to come half way down my hands
Yes, it seems to be the fashion, I think it arrived a year or two ago. Is it to keep your hands worn without wearing gloves? I don't like them, not even the cuff ones.

Casdon Tue 07-Oct-25 10:54:13

Short knitwear, coats and blouses are fashionable at the moment because they go well with wide leg trousers and full skits, otherwise you look like a block. I’m not keen on them, because I prefer my back to be covered without a gap when I bend over, but I’m finding I have to try everything on at the moment. Don’t get me started on leg lengths either.

Oh these items you are describing are right -up my alley!
I'm only 5ft tall but unfortunately I have the long, skinny arms of a gibbon!

yes I have always had a short body and long arms and legs. Now I have osteoporosis and my body is shrinking it is even worse. I have just bought a nice cropped cardigan that is a comfortabale fit several inches below the waist.

I don't like short jumpers and thought I had quite long arms but some tops I've bought in the last couple of years all seem to have extra-length sleeves!

Now, where are the knitting needles? Although by the time I knit a jumper it might be next summer.

No- I can't wear cropped jumpers or cardigans either and have noticed that's all there is in the shops just now...

RosieandherMaw Mon 06-Oct-25 22:41:03

Has anybody else noticed that this Autumn/Winter's jumpers seem to be shorter in the body but with longer sleeves?
I don't think I have unusually short arms (?) but many sleeves seem to come half way down my hands and because of their shape- trumpet- and absence of ribbed cuffs can't easily be turned over or pushed up.
I'm not tall but the shorter boxy shape which seems popular does me few favours either.
Or am I a freak?
