If you have pearls (of any kind), do you wear them?

I’ve been making an effort to wear all my earrings, and realised I haven’t worn any pearl earrings for years. So, I put a pair on today, and I enjoyed wearing them again - but it got me thinking, you don’t see pearls worn much at all now, except by the royals, and I wonder why - I’ve got a necklace too, but I haven’t worn that either, not for probably 25 years.

I've inherited my mums pearls which I sometimes like to wear with any high black neck tops. But I NEVER clutch them...

I regularly wear my earrings, one pair the real thing and the other a large pink pair. I do occasionally wear my necklace. Very kind to older skin

I have a long necklace of pearls I had forgotten. I must get the out again so I can clutch them!

I've worn pearl earrings for years - quite small and neat. They go with absolutely everything, and I was told that pearls add a glow to the skin. Every little helps.

I have several pairs of pearl earrings, a pearl tennis bracelet along with a couple of necklaces. I alternate my jewellery.

I wear pearls all the time.
I also have some modern ones, bought from craft stalls in Rone.

I wear my pearl earrings and necklaces. I don't wear the pearls my husband bought me as a gift on our wedding day though, the clasp irritates the back of my neck. Unfortunately it isn't long enough to wear over anything.

I have two sets of modern pearls, one in shell pink, the other in shades of green, they’re from Hawaii. I also have some pearl earrings which need mending - maybe I’ll get that done, prompted by this thread.

I also have a Tay pearl, which is very precious, as they are unavailable now due to a ban on freshwater pearl mussel fishing in Scotland.

I used to wear pearls frequently.
I think that I just got out of the habit and put them away and forgot them!

I came to love them in later life, having bought three freshwater Chinese bracelets on Monarch airlines as they were closing down. I accidentally wore them in a swimming pool but they were fine. The pearls were fine of course but I worried about the elastic holding them together.

I have some huge baroque pearls left over from some I strung for my daughter's wedding.
I also have two lovely necklaces from my mother which need restringing.

I have some freshwater pearls and several strings of unusual and shaded pearls bought to make things with.

I rarely wear them.

I thought tennis bracelets were diamonds GrannyGravy13 - after the bracelet Chris Evert accidentally flung off her wrist once.

Maybe that's a myth?

mum's pearl necklace, but I never wear them..

I absolutely love pearls. I wear pearl earrings pretty much continuously, they seem to go with everything. I’ve never shown a lot of interest in jewellery but I do love pearls…..and diamonds lol!

I have a string DH gave me early in our relationship languishing in my jewellery box. This thread has reminded me to wear them more often, so thanks.

I had a real pearl necklace when I was 18, and didn’t take them off ever for many years, except for re-string. I also have a pair of matching stud earrings. Years late4 I bought myself a long string of big pearls.
I rarely wear them these days as DH gave me a gold chain when DD was born. This never comes off.
And I wear mostly one of my 100 or so pairs of fish earrings every day.
No more “girls with pearls” these days; it used to be a rite of passage when I was a girl. Pearls are so becoming.

For my 25th birthday my husband gave me pearl earrings, in a gold setting . I have worn them most of the time ever since, but do wear others where appropriate.
I also wear a pearl necklace sometimes, but not as often as years ago. I have a fresh water pearl bracelet, a fairly recent gift from one of my bridesmaids. We're both in our 80's now and still in regular contact.

I have my grandmother's Mikimoto pearls that my grandfather got her while in Korea. I rarely were jewelry other than my wedding set, so i am holding them so my daughter can wear them to marry if she would like to. I did finally wear her pair of champagne diamond earrings last weekend. That was lovely. I need to make more of an effort to wear the pieces I have.

I have lots of pearl earrings and a couple of single strands that I wear regularly as they're quite robust. The most precious set I have is the Japanese Akoya pearls set in filigree gold that DH gave me for our 30th wedding anniversary (16 years ago). I rarely wear them as they're so delicate.

I have my Mum's pearls, given to her by my Dad, and a pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings set which my husband bought for me in Gibraltar.

I don't wear them daily, but they are my "go to" if we are going out. I love them - pearls look beautiful against skin, they are very complimentary, no matter what age you are.

Minimoon - clasps are very easy to change, and you could always lengthen the necklace. Seems such a waste to have beautiful pearls and not wear them.

I recently had to have my bracelet re-strung. I sent them to a lovely lady in Kent, who runs her own business and her rates are very reasonable. Please send me a private message if any of you would like her contact details.

I had an inherited necklace of real pearls as a pose to cultured, I wore it a lot but always felt it needed a second string.
I eventually found a string when viewing an auction.
I left a bid as I couldn’t attend.
I got the pearls for £7.00!
They were real.
The two strings sit perfectly together.

I wear earrings every single day. I have a variety including pearl ones. I have two sets of pearl necklaces. Mum had a four strand set dad had given her made into two necklaces for my sister and I. Sadly my sister had hers stolen. I also have a freshwater pearl necklace which I bought myself. I wear that a lot. What I don’t really wear are bracelets. I have a couple including a beautiful silver charm bracelet, but my left wrist has my watch on and my right wrist is bent out of shape due to accidents in the past.

I like pearl earrings which seem flattering and go with anything. I have a pearl necklace but don’t wear it as it feels old fashioned.
