Can’t believe how many people believe royals deserve respect. I think it’s such a hypocritical meeting . The Catholic Church denies weddings to divorcees but allows audience with the Pope for these two who carried on under the nose of a young gullible woman.
I don’t care what they wear except the tax payer funds much of their jaunts. The Pope and them do what they have always done. Use pop and ceremony and expensive outfits to subdue a population who believe in jumbo jumbo and Tories given fir grabbing land.
It’s so sad and so in line with the tabloids.
If some of the comments here represent people of my generation I fear for the future.

I'm totally confused by that comment Frogoet

Why do you fear the future?

FYI this is Gransnet
Many of us may not be here in 25 years time

I think the rest of your post is rather incomprehensible so sorry, I didn't follow it.

GrannyGravy13 Thanks for the explanation about black for women meeting the pope. It looks like the woman is being shamed though.

I rather liked it. Quite stylish.

I thought.it looked good. She has a square chin like me. I study carefully her hats and neckline. I think she's rather jolly

GrannyGravy13 Fri 24-Oct-25 20:59:56

The comments on this thread haven’t changed my mind, I thought HM looked stylish and respectful.

I an genuinely shocked by the people who think it's fine Diana had affairs but not Charles. Talk about double standards. It's like children in a the playground saying they hit someone because, "they hit me first." The whole situation was sad and I believe avoidable but those of you still protesting that poor Diana was a victim need to have a long hard think about her behaviour.

I’m genuinely shocked that people take a thread about hats as an opportunity to drag in Diana.
(Actually I don’t know why I’m surprised on here)

Mollygo Sat 25-Oct-25 11:00:51

We’re all entitled to our opinions. I’m glad I’m not famous enough to have my outfits commented on in the media.
How lucky HMQ is unlikely to read GN. I wouldn’t like her to see all the 😾.

Ugly hat, ugly woman. Poor Camilla?! Seriously. Ha ha. She deserves no respect and nor does Charles. I can't wait for William and Catherine to be King and Queen, it can't come quickly enough for me, because these two make my blood boil. Why anyone would support them is a mystery to me, knowing how they carried on.

What a judgemental post. Why do they make your blood boil, they are not hurting you.

You sound like hard work, do you judge everyone if the do not come up to your standards? Who are you to say you have no respect for them, are you a paragon of virtue who never makes mistakes and dies nothing wrong. I despair when I read posts like this.

Bukkie Sat 25-Oct-25 11:46:44

Mollygo - But a thread about hats was seen as a golden opportunity to pick on Camilla. This is the double standards I was talking about. St Diana despite being far from the innocent victim can do no wrong in some people's eyes yet Camilla can do no right.

WithNobsOnIt Sat 25-Oct-25 12:21:12

Dear me Camilla

She looks almost frightening. What on earth is that hat cum head gear about?

Really Gothic, dark and morbid.
Vying to be a modern day, Dickensian character?

Miss Havisham eat your heart out!

annemac101 Sat 25-Oct-25 13:48:44

I didn't think there was any need for designer headgear and it looked a bit like a Halloween halo for a witch. I also thought the king should have worn a black suit and not a blue one. Whoever told him to wear that was wrong, respect shouldn't just come from a woman.

Mollygo Sat 25-Oct-25 14:18:28

Was the Pope offended by what either of them were wearing? Did he mention it?
Or is it only grannies?

ronib Sat 25-Oct-25 14:30:58

The Pope was wearing a dress.

Sorry couldn’t resist…..
