What footwear with wide leg cropped trousers?

Not a nice look on anyone, perhaps make them in to shorts.

Although I wouldn't wear most of the combinations that she does, it does get me thinking differently and trying new "looks". tbh I don't care if people think I care too much about how I look, I dress for myself and no one else!

@foxie48 glad I'm not the only one who does this! You never know what looks right until you've tried it on and then also taken it out to see how it feels for a while.

I know this might sound as if I give far too much attention to what I wear, but it's one of life's little pleasures for me.

I wear thick tights or footless ones with socks over and ankle boots. Works for me.

This style and length does not look good on anyone with anything, it is unflattering whatever you wear with it. Gently ease it out of your wardrobe and learn from the mistake.

I have to say I agree with this! I really don’t think wide leg crops look good even on those size 8, 5’ 10” models in the photos.

muckandnettles people watching is always good for getting ideas of what looks work and/or don’t.

I think with wide leg trousers, whatever length a cropped jacket is best, along with shirt/sweater worn French tucked unless they are waistband skimming

I think what I learned is that the rest of the outfit matters just as much and anything worn with style and confidence can look good. So the footwear isn't always the key issue, it's the jacket and the and the jumper or whatever.

Totally agree. I love to sit and people watch as it freshens up my ideas to see what different people wear. On a rainy day I like to put outfits together and get older clothes out to team with newer ones to give a completely new look. I don't spend a great deal of money on clothes these days, I like the ones I have to "earn their keep"!

Nothing dates you more than the shape of your trousers, and the shoes/boots you wear though, you don’t have to be a fashion victim to embrace new shapes and find ways to make them work for you.

Skinny jeans are out at the moment, tho still sold in the shops.
Straight leg jeans are always in fashion and so are boot cut for Winter.Wide leg is now in fashion but may well only last a few seasons more.If you like it and it really suits you go for it.
It’s important to try on and look from every angle at yourself for any garment and not go for it just cos it’s ‘in’ at the moment.
My parents were tailors and passed on all sorts of advice to us over the years.Buy the best material you can afford and only wear what suits your figure.

Yup twin sets are definitely back and so are pearls but not necessarily together. Even beige can look fresh and modern paired with a suitable colour. Crimpline doesn't exist anymore except at the back of some wardrobes. I agree about trouser shapes becoming dated, I've ditched my beloved skinnys for the time being as they just don't feel right but I'm keeping them for when they make a reappearance as they no doubt will. I realised that the chinos that I wore to visit the Alhambra this week were also worn when I visited Ronda at least 12 years ago but I styled them differently! Fashion is definitely cyclical and IMO age is no barrier to being fashionable if you want to be and I still do!

I wear mine with tights, so no flesh gaps, and calf length boots. So the effect is similar to a below knee/calf length skirt - not that I have worn one of those for years!

Beige is cringey on anyone but I hear that twinsets are back! Haven’t seen them mind you.I don’t think Crimplene is around anymore ( sadly for Mum who used to love it).

There’s a vast difference between looking like a little old lady and wearing trendy gear that just doesn’t suit you.I think only a wildly attractive slim tall 18 year old could get away with going out and about in wide leg crops, thick socks and chunky footwear.

You might be on the slippery slope to beige anoraks Oreo, watch out.

Having looked at all the ideas and pics online of what to wear with wide leg crop trousers have to say they all look awful like the circus is in town.

I’ve just had a trying on session with various footwear. The best option so far is pair of black chunky Timberland lace-up boots. I shall try them soon!

Winter cropped trousers need thick knee socks or tights, plus a chunky shoe. Think Mary Jane DMs or boots. Be bold .

muckandnettles I would go for long boots with a heel, so no gap.
