I’m very aware of these lines recently and wondered if anyone had had any treatment for them.
I’ve looked it up and fillers and/or botox are mentioned.

What are marionette lines??

SORES Mon 12-Jan-26 18:37:04

fill them in with Vaseline and sleep on your back
in our family they are hereditary sadly
apparently when I smile or laugh they disappear
when I believed this was causing them
I considered botox but the thought of limited facial
muscle control causing dribbling put me off

Im watching now with interest too

Your 11s are between your eyebrows. Marionette lines are from the nose down to the corners of the mouth.

Ellie Anne Mon 12-Jan-26 18:48:36

Fallingstar they are the lines from your lips to your chin. I think it’s to do with puppets faces.

Have a look at skin boosters they might suit you better than fillers or botox.

EllieAnne, I wrote a lengthy reply about my experience of having fillers, but you apparently can't receive replies confused. If you somehow change that, I can tell you what happened to me.

Ellie Anne Mon 12-Jan-26 22:02:44

How very dare you I don’t know how to do that.☹️

I'd like to give pick this up if possible...I have this problem, I have noticed it is slightly improved when I am a bit lighter, though think muscle decline moght stop that eventually.

Has anybody actually had any improvement to their Marrionette lines? If so what did you do?

madeleine45 Thu 15-Jan-26 14:49:01

Each to their own, but as far as I am concerned, what you see is what you get. I have never wanted to have any sort of treatment or operation to change how I am, perhaps I am lucky my skin is quite good, but I dont look in the mirrors much . I prefer to spend what money I can save on things like concerts or outings, and dont worry too much so long as I am clean

I was hoping to kick start this post as it is of interest to me as I said, is that not the point of posting on a subject heading?
A somewhat off topic, unhelpful and slightly sanctimonious post madeleine45 but good for you!

Foxtail I would find a really good beauty clinic that employs properly trained practioners and ask for a consultation. tbh Personal recommendation is what I prefer from someone I know and trust. I'm 77 and generally my skin tone is very good, I don't have deep marionette lines and I wouldn't consider surgical procedures or anything too invasive or permanent. I have skin boosters every six months, they are injections under the skin of hyaluronic acid. It's a bit uncomfortable but really quite effective. Basically they attract moisture reducing fine lines and generally plumping the skin. The effect is subtle but significant and I am constantly being told how good my skin is (for my age!) I have no problem in anyone having a pop at me for being vain, I am vain, I like to look my best and I'm fortunate to have the cash to spend on myself and I do! I don't think they would make a big difference to deep marionette lines, I think you'd need botox to relax the muscles at the corner of the mouth and some filler in the actual lines, personally not for me but it might be for you. I go to someone I trust completely who has had extensive training, so if you do decide to have a consultation check their qualifications and if they have reviews go through them carefully. The other thing I'd recommend is keeping foundation (if you use it) to an absolute minimum in the areas where you have the most lines and use the lightest weight/coverage that you can elsewhere as when it settles into lines it makes them more obvious. I've found the skin boosters have really improved my skin tone so nowadays I can get away with very little coverage. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

foxie48 Thank you for your post, really interesting, having now read much more about skin fillers, I am thinking about exploring that further but not for the Marrionettes, still not sure what to do however I agree re foundation, I dont use often or much anyway, never happy with the finished look. I am chasing the natural, healthy look but those b****y lines are my biggest problem. Thank you and I think looking good and having pride in that has good all round benefits including confidence and wellbeing.

Never heard of these lines.

MaluCatchu1 Fri 16-Jan-26 13:40:25

I’ve had mine filled a couple of times over about the last maybe 10 years. Lasted well and I’m happy with the result. I’ll have it done if needed one more time then I’ll be too old to bother after that .

Adele21 Fri 16-Jan-26 13:46:22

I hated mine and have had them filled a couple of times over the last ten years and will do again when necessary- worth every penny - the results last ages

Rocketstop2 Fri 16-Jan-26 13:47:04

I call them 'Ventriloquist's dummy mouth' and that's what I've got. I haven't got the wherewithal to pay for treatments, fillers etc so just have to put up with it, but sometimes people will say 'Don't look so miserable' I'm not, it's just my resting face !

What’s the procedure called please?

pen50 Fri 16-Jan-26 13:55:57

The best facelift is a big smile. Practice enough and it becomes habitual. It lifts a bad mood too!

Adele21 Fri 16-Jan-26 13:58:14

Dermal fillers injected along the fold - plumps out the area and effect seen immediately - I did my research and the lady I go to is a qualified nurse and was recommended to me by others who had used this clinic - personally I think it’s well worthwhile I felt so much better about myself afterwards

I have these marionette lines and frown lines too , I have often thought about some sort of treatment but always back out, I also worry about how long does it last and how much would it cost to keep having it done. But I really would love to improve my face. I look very tired most of the time

Does it hurt??

Betty18 Fri 16-Jan-26 14:27:01

I’ve had filler in mine and I love the result. Just don’t go mad .

Jonah Fri 16-Jan-26 14:33:34

I have them too and they seem to be much deeper this year. I normally just plaster whatever cream I find, on.

Recently, I had been given a gift bag of cosmetics. Vichy Mineral 89 - 72 hour boosting cream - did improve the facial appearance adequately, all round and made me feel much more confident.
To be honest I am more concerned about the pigmentation on my face. Getting ready for another round of cryotherapy!
