I had mine tattooed in 2016 and would like them done again. I can’t remember who I went to and would like a recommendation from someone I know with brows I like at a salon nearer to me.
One friend turned up with black tattooed tadpoles/spermatozoa and looked ridiculous!

Eyebrow tattooed
(67 Posts)Has anyone had their eyebrows tattooed , mine are very sparse ,I have them dyed every couple of months but when they fade I am left with very sparse unruly brows. So am thinking of a permanent solution , how long will it last , what’s the upkeep?
I have mixed feelings on this subject .
I was very tempted to have my eyebrows tattooed because I over plucked them in the sixties and they have white hairs in them.
Benefit makes the best eyebrow product, but it's expensive and doesn't last long .
Now I use Maybeliine and try to apply it in short strokes .
I was impatient before .
I've seen some terrible and some wonderful tattoos -it's a risk .
One of my friends has her eyebrows microbladed - so one day she has no eyebrows at all and the next she looks as though she's had an electric shock .
In my opinion they are too dark and too severe .
If considering having such a procedure choose a well known salon and ask to see some photographs of their work .
If you want to try out a cheaper way or just to test the look you want there are transfer kits sold on line. They give you various colours and style . You put them on and dab water on to the back of the paper. A friend uses them and hey are quite effective, last about 5 days. You can also buy a remover cream in case you get it wrong! I’d be a bit wary of the tattoo style in case I got it wrong.
Lilypops I think you're right to take your time. I took approx 3 years to think about it, do my research and obtain recommendations, and then went for it. Absolutely no regrets.
Ohh, a controversial topic!
I know/ have met a number of ladies who have had eyebrow's tattooed-on & personally I think most of them look very hard! Yet some have been soft & lovely too. So you really need to do your research. The alternative is looking-like Pat Butcher!
Who in real-life was actually lovely.
My DD moved 100 miles away but still came back to this area to get her brows done. In group photos with her new circle, her brows always looked wonderful, unlike the thick “slugs” or extreme arches that some had.
She said it’s semi permanent tattooing, powdered method (whatever that means!), and it lasts 18-24 months. Not individual lines (nanoblading?) but shading, using a tattoo pen.
It’s around £350 and I’ll think about it if I ever have another wedding to attend, I didn’t plan well enough in advance to go there before DD’s wedding last summer. I wrecked mine by over plucking in my teens, and at 14-15 DD similarly ignored the mantra that, sometimes, mother knows best!
Many thanks to all who responded to my questions re. eyebrow tattoos, many varied views some good. Mainly good. I am still thinking about it , mainly the cost initially as well as the appearance after, For now I bought a great pencil with a micro bladed look brush that I can paint on. It was by ELF. £8 , so, until I make my mind up to go for it I will use this pencil. Thanks again x
A friend of mine age 70 had her eyebrows tattood recently and they look great! She said they should last 1 and a half to 2 years. Not cheap to do but definitely worth it!
Hi everyone! 👋
My name is Glen, and I’m excited to be here! I’m a bit of a newbie, still learning the ropes, but I’m really looking forward to meeting amazing people, sharing stories, and having some great conversations. I’ve always believed that the best connections come from genuine chats, laughter, and even the small moments that make life memorable.
A little about me: I enjoy learning new things, exploring different perspectives, and connecting with people who have interesting stories to tell. I’m someone who loves a good laugh, meaningful conversations, and creating moments that make life brighter.
I’m really hoping to make some friends here, exchange ideas, and just enjoy the positive energy of this group. I may be new, but I promise to bring a friendly vibe, curiosity, and an open heart to every conversation.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you and being a part of this wonderful community! Feel free to say hi, I’d love to chat. 😊
My eyebrows are non existent due to overplucking and thyroid problems. I woukd be too scared to have them tattooed for fear of ending g up with the wrong shape. I use a brilliant product called Browblade which has a pencil at one end and a very very fine brush at the other to paint on individual 'hairs'. It takes practice but looks very realistic, wouldn't be without it.
Yes. I had them tattooed 30 years ago when I lived in Beijing. My eyebrows were practically non existent because of years of plucking in the 60s. The tattoos follow my natural eyebrows, they are not caterpillars No, realises that they have been done.
Microblading is a form of semi permanent tattooing . Research your beauty therapist to ensure she has good reviews and experience. Expect to pay £300+ to include the first 2 visits. Should last for 2-3 years then fade gently.
I had mine done a few years ago and must get them topped up soon again . They were beautifully done and my only regret was not having had them done previously.
Show your therapist photos of what you do and don’t want .
Microwaved, than you that made me chuckle
No idea what microblading is.But l think tattooed eyebrows look gross.
l have never seen a single person who they looked good on.
Especiallythe thick ones lthat look like sleeping caterpillars.
Whatver happend to eyebrow pencil?
Lilypops
Grandma batty, When you had your eyebrows microwaved!! Did you have to remove them first ?? 🤣
😂😂😂
Based on past experience I would avoid having your eyes tattooed because the colour of the tattoo soon fades and, worse still, turns pink so you end up having to use a brow pencil to cover up the pink. It has taken years for the pink to fade away so now I just use a Benefit goof free brow pencil, a little brush over with a Bobbi Brown brown eye shadow and a light dusting off to tone down the colour. Every day I wish I hadn’t plucked my eyebrows to a thin line in my teens!
My brows are microbladed ; I redo/ touch them up every year happily. A colkeagie at work had hers tattoo'd about 8 years ago with NO maintenance ..they look fab! She is very dark haired though (think goth colours)...not sure how well they'd last/look for a mid brown volour..? Worth asking though....😊

I’ve seen some that just look awful. Wrong colour and odd shape! I think you’d have to do a lot of research on which salon/aesthetist to trust. I dye mine at home because I couldn’t afford salon prices and trust no one! 😝
I agree Lynette it takes a brave soul to have this done.
Forgot to mention, tattoo seems to last about 3 years.
Yes Ihad it done..a bit sorebut bearable last about 12/15 months.
Yes, twice. I have frontal alopecia and have the tatooing done on NHS. I only this weekend decided they need doing again and I should arrange another appointment. I don't have them done like the big slug microblading style but a reasonable width to look like a shaped eyebrow.
I had my eyebrows micro bladed last year. £350 for consultation, initial micro blading and 6 week later top up. Mine are a bit too dark, so all I’ll say is be very firm about how you want them to look. I love being able to swim and still have eyebrows after. They look very realistic.
Grandmabatty.. brilliant! 🤩 made me lol . Brightened up a dull, wet Monday .
Yep. Best thing I did was to have my sparse eyebrows microbladed. I had a lovely lady who was newly trained and I go back to her every 8 wks for shaping. Colour match was brilliant and still is 2 years later.
Yes I had mine done a few years ago I had to have the colour topped up every 18 months
She did a light brown colour which worked well. They were dark at first but they fade. I haven’t had a top up for a while they are still visible but I just use eyebrow pencil. They are a nice shape.
