Is it just me.... I see the latest trend of leopard print and other animal print everywhere, and I hate it. It just looks cheap and tacky unless it is on an actual animal. Maybe one item, but most I see are dressed head to foot in it. Does anyone know how to make it look classy and sophisticated or am I missing the point?

Ooh, I love a nice leopard print loafer!

You are Theresa May and I claim my £10 note! 😄

I have a penchant for leopard print and a French stylist on Instagram calls it a neutral, which surprised me.

It’s a shame it’s got the Bet Lynch tag, here’s someone you may have heard of who loved her leopard print, pre our Bet!

An old fashioned view, but my immediate reaction to someone wearing leopard print is 'common.'

My mother used to rant about any woman wearing red. According to her, only a certain type of woman would wear red.

I do like red 😀

I remember Trinny and Susannah saying that red and black together was tarty. Do I care? No.

We went to the theatre last night and there were several women wearing leopard print of one sort or another - I "spotted" jackets, jeans, leggings, a handbag and a scarf. None of them looked tacky or tarty and they were of various ages. Most had accessorised with black, which is what I do with my leopard shoes. I also think leopard goes well with navy, it depends on the print, some are quite bright while others are more muted.

What I liked less was a woman who seemed addicted to sparkly things. She had a glittery manicure, a phone covered in crystals, a sparkly watch and a sequinned jacket. Each to their own, of course but I would prefer some leopard to lots of sparkly things, except at Christmas.

I too read that leopard print is now considered a neutral. I love it. I think the important thing is like in most instances the quality is more important than quantity

MollyNew I did see a sequin leopard print on a fashion runway not long ago!
That might interest you?

Sequins and leopard - I need a lie down!!

Love leopard print and wear it as one piece of clothing because of bring a shortie. Otherwise I'd probably look like I was about to go on stage in the Lion King. Shysal - I have the grey jumper.

Each to his own!
Some people can ooze class and dignity with very little effort and others will never be able to carry it off whatever they choose to wear or whatever the price of the garment either.

That’s sounds awfully “Mrs Bucket/Bouquet” and just a tad snobby and patronising

I don't know how to make it classy either, I hate leopard print

You said it pably15.
I wouldn't even try it on myself.
I've got a nice dark red scarf with black horses on and a tan blouse with birds on.
That's the nearest I get to fashion animals.

I love an animal print , I have a grey leopard print wool coat which definitely isn’t tarty . Leopard print ballet pumps . Several leopard print jumpers and bags and a cow print bag which was my mums from the 70s .
Being short I’ve shied away from head to toe leopard print .
However I’ve just returned from holiday and saw several older women in leopard print swimsuits and bikinis and they looked fabulous.

Tenko Fri 20-Mar-26 22:08:44

Actually I do have a leopard print sundress

REKA Fri 20-Mar-26 22:09:17

Not a fan at all. It seems to have become very popular again. Not sure why it was popular in the first place.

NotSpaghetti Fri 20-Mar-26 23:00:13

MollyNew, I think it was this one - if not, it was very similar-

nexus63 Fri 20-Mar-26 23:55:37

not my kind of thing, but everyone should wear what they want regardless of others.

Vintagewhine Sat 21-Mar-26 07:43:42

I've got an animal print handbag and slim belt which I wear with simple classic outfits. They just lift the outfit and look really smart with tan suede boots. It's how you wear it and looks best IMO with unfussy clothes and not too much of it.

Allsorts Thu 26-Mar-26 08:16:32

Just one item of animal print lifts an outfit. However, if you like more just do it.

Many years ago my daughter bought a leopard print dress from a high end high street store but her husband didn’t like it so she took it back. She’s bought many dresses since then and fashions have come and gone but I often think of that dress and think she would have got a lot of wear out of it as it was a classic. I must ask her about it because I think she’ll agree with me. I think it’s quite a slimming print given that it is meant as a camouflage. I’d only wear a pop of it though, as a scarf or t shirt.

henetha Thu 26-Mar-26 10:55:29

I'm a great believer in people should wear whatever they like.
And I've never followed fashion in the slightest.
I have just one pink leopard print jumper from M&S and wear it sometimes because I like it. A few years ago I had a beige leopard skin jacket which I loved.
I'm not classy, but don't care.

Rosie51 Thu 26-Mar-26 12:42:55

I agree. I just don't like any animal prints at all. I like some but not all checks, stripes and polka dots which I'm sure lots of people absolutely hate. I consider good use of these prints can 'lift' an outfit just as those who think animal prints do the same. Each to their own grin
