Thunderbird email

Can't you tick a box which says you've forgotton your password, and see what happens then?

There doesn't seem to be one, or a Help button!

I thought this was going to be an actual email from Thunderbirds.

Went to Thunderbird site and found troubleshooter advice - but I can't find 'Tools;Options' in Windows 7 which I am not yet used to.

Can anyone help with this?

Still have not solved this! Sending is ok but not receiving.

AlieOxon I'm not sure whether you have located Tools and Options yet, but if not..

Look at the very top of the page. It says Inbox....
Immediately under that is a line of words including Tools. Click on Tools and Options is at the bottom of the drop down menu.
Also undet Help there is a link to Thunderbird's support page.

No - have been searching for 'Tools'.
Trouble here is that the column doesn't include 'tools'!

The Thunderbird "tools " column includes "account settings" and "options" Do either of those have anything useful?

Look in "account settings" then "server settings" then "authentication method. amoung the choices are "normal password" and "encrypted password". If you change that, does it make a difference? You can always change it back if not.

OK. What can you see at the top of the page in terms of words to click on like Edit and Message etc?

coastwalker I can see Get Mail, Write, Chat, Address Book, Quick Filter at the top and Tag greyed out.

What can you see above those? I have file, edit, view, go, message, tools, help.

If you can't see those, do a right click on the bit above the things you can see, and select "menu bar".

Ah. NOW I can see the 'Tools'.
Where are 'server settings' ???

I looked at 'saved passwords' and there is one for the smpt but not for Pop3...

I used that one and - I just received 80 emails! Thanks for the help!!!

Whew. Now I just have to catch up.

"Saved passwords" are in the options. mine has different ones for the Pop3 and the smpt.

Server sttings are in the "accounts" bit. does yours say normal password or encrypted password? Not sure what it will say if there is no password listed in "options"!

Haven't seen 'encrypted' anywhere yet. Is it better to have different p/ws?

I don't know. Mine was set up by DH two years ago.

I've been having a problem too. My job alert emails come in, but when I click on any of the listed jobs to get further details it's failing to connect, just get the whirly thing.
