I saw that on Yahoo. It said that Ebay was telling everyone to change their password, but I haven't had any notifications from them. I was wondering if it was a hoax, because if everyone went on it at once it would potentially cause it to crash.
Janerowena It's been all over the news and you're right about the site potentially crashing! Apparently, this morning it was impossible to change p/w because literally millions of people were trying to do it at the same time.
I think eBay will be really hauled over the coals for such an easy breach of security, not that that really helps its users!
I didn't get an email from them, but there was a notice when I accessed my e-bay account asking all customers to change their password. Just follow the instructions they give.
I couldn't change mine this morning but earlier this afternoon I was able to do so successfully just follow the instructions from "edit" in personal information.
I cannot find a "personal information" section and have had to resort to pretending I have forgotten my password - so far the email they have promised to send me in order to do this has not materialised nearly 24 hours later.
Mishap go to ebay page. my ebay log in as normal along the top you will see ActivitymessagesAccountapplicatiions hover your mouse over Account you will see think its third one down personal preferences scroll down till you see "password edit* click the edit button and create new password. hope that helps
I still haven't had a notification. I shan't bother until I have. having read the risks involved, I can't see that it can harm me, simply because of the way I have my money and things set up. I wonder if people who accepted the offer to tie in their accounts with Paypal might potentially be worst affected - I'm glad I kept mine separate, because I thought that sounded a bit risky.
janerowena I didn't have any notification either - but the Notice was there when I logged into my e-bay account. They are asking all their customers to change their passwords just as a precaution.
I changed my password as soon as I heard the news although I have not received an email yet. They say that PayPal hasn't been affected. However, I think I will change that one as well.
I have changed it in the past, I know what you man. On some sites you have to copy and paste a huge long line into about the tenth window you come to and then remember the name of your first cousin's second dog.
